Government buys another failing company, proves business accumen.

Now that every aspect of GM has been turned into a bank.......which of course they are decidedly NOT, the federal government feels it is necessary to continue to throw money down the rabbit hole. After giving the lending arm of GM-GMAC-a major cash infusion last year, they still can't make it. What started out as a 35% ownership stake in the company has now grown to 56%.
The Treasury Department announced Wednesday the U.S. government would take a majority ownership stake in the troubled auto financier GMAC. Treasury will provide $3.8 billion to the auto lender, which has struggled to raise private funds.

Treasury's equity ownership of GMAC will increase from 35 percent to 56 percent under the transaction, making the government and taxpayer the majority owner.

Treasury previously had invested $12.5 billion in preferred stock in GMAC. It owns a total of $13.1 billion in preferred stock in GMAC, which includes purchases, the exercise of warrants and 35 percent of common equity.
Now GMAC joins the ranks of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, General Motors and Chrysler and American International Group-all government owned entities. You know, the same government that has "no interest" in running private enterprise.

One little discussed fact about all of these companies? Not only were they so poorly run that though they are some of the biggest companies around, they couldn't make it, but since the government has stepped in they are NO BETTER off. Sure, they're still running; they're still around, but it is only thanks to the unlimited cash cow of the American tax payer that they live on. I mean heck, if I went out and spent all my money and my dad kept putting more money in my bank account.....pft, I would never fail either.

There is no person who has actually run a business who would continue to purchase companies that are failing to such a great extent that they could take down whole sectors of the economy and then do nothing to actually improve those companies. It is a complete falsehood to pretend that by simply buying up majority ownership in these companies the government has done anything to actually help the economy. Even though it is clear they do not believe it, the government is going to run out of money too and when they do these companies are going to fail anyway. The problem then will be they will take the government down with them.

Face Punch Wednesday-Year in Review.

Barney Frank-I'm quoting "The notion that we want to retain these people, that we want to pay the people that messed it up in the first place…" Um yeah I completely agree-WHY WOULD WE CONTINUE TO RETAIN ASSHOLES THAT DON'T DO A GOOD JOB. Um, hypocrite much? YOU need to go. 15 punches

Rep. Charlie Rangel-So….another fine upstanding lawmaker on the Hill for ya-Representin' Baby! When asked about a Caddy paid for with taxpayer money, four rent-stabilized apartments received at 50% off market value (one of which was turned into a campaign office, umm yeah, illegal, asshole) and a failure to pay taxes on rental income from property he holds-he responded "Why don't you mind your g*ddamn business?" Nice. Very nice. Why don't you quit being a prick. You need to be gone. 10 punches

Rep. Charlie Rangel-'Ole Charlie has gotten together with Max Bacus and introduced some new legislation-The “Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act of 2009” would mandate Individuals with offshore accounts provide details on these accounts and list them on tax returns. Rules governing trusts would be "significantly strengthened" to prevent the true beneficiaries from hiding front entities." Ugh-nothing like putting the criminals in charge of the......err, other criminals. Can you say pot and kettle? Corruption is the highest form of flattery? No matter how you slice it Charlie gets 10 punches for more of the same---"Do as I say, not as I do."

Timothy F. Geithner- This is short and sweet-if you are too stupid to use Turbo Tax you are too stupid to run the Treasury and the IRS. 10 punches

Timothy F. Geithner-"Gimme, gimme, gimme!!" Go away-you are a liar and too dim-witted to run the f'n Treasury. 10 punches

Nancy Pelosi. I would like to punch her in the face 5 or 6 times. I dislike her more than anyone else I can think of right now. Not only she is the worst Speaker of the House ever with her divisive politicking, but she is a complete and total waste of air. 5 punches

Nancy Pelosi-Dear Ms. Pelosi-You are either too stupid, a liar, or have too poor a memory to serve this country. YOU KNEW & APPROVED of the waterboarding done to the terrorists! STFU!-10 punches. (plus eleventy gazillion punches as a bonus because I dislike you that much.)
Nancy Pelosi-OMG! Nan wants to use unspent TARP funds as a “good pay-for” for a second round of stimulus spending. Soooooo way back in January when we were all blogging about how TARP would just become a never ending salad bar of dolla dolla bill for the government to use as it sees fit? Yeah, WE were the crazy ones........It's weird to me that apparently Nancy can't tell the difference between a "financial institution" and a slush fund.....oh wait-to them it is the same thing. Right. I forgot. Heaven forbid we just not spend that borrowed money at all.......10 punches

To the climate changers, global warming alarmists and Al "I love me some Twinkies" Gore-- all I can say at this point is SUCK IT! Stop trying to defend the indefensible and stop trying to make us believe that the emails weren't about manipulating data in your favor to get the desired results. Of course it was and for that you all get 100 punches

The Pimps on Capital Hill-They sold their constituents like crack whores for this farce of a Health care Reform Bill. Mary Landrieu got $100 million, $300 million went to California, Sen. Ben Nelson sold his "Ladies" for Medicaid subsidies, Sen. Chris Dodd received $100 million for a phantom hospital to be built, which no one is really even sure exists.......the list goes on and on; the point is this-our representatives in DC cannot sell our souls for their benefit and expect no repercussions-we are not your whores to prostitute out for your own delight. For your treatment of the American people you get Eleventy-frillion punches to go along with your arrogance and complete disregard for the people you represent.

Chris Matthews-Honorable mention-here and here.

The winners in our Yearly Wrap-up of Face Punch Wednesday are as follows:

For most appearances on the list, Queen Nancy Pelosi wins the "I Want to Punch You so Hard Your Dog Cries" award- Frankly, Nancy Pelosi's very existence offends me. She is the most divisive Speaker of the House ever and the poster child for what being addicted to Botox and plastic surgery does to your brain. For being one of the major architects of the ruination of this great country and a liar, you should be punched so hard your dog cries.

For obtaining the most points without going over, the climate changers, global warming alarmists and Al "I love me some Twinkies" Gore win the "We Wouldn't Know the Truth if it was Accumulating in the Snow at Our Feet" award- If it wasn't for lies and made up data.....well.........they wouldn't be on the list.

And finally:
For being a complete tool and a wiener-though he has neither and wouldn't know how to work them even if he did-Timmy Geithner wins the "What do you mean I can't run the Treasury in QuickBooks" award. He can't work a computer program that essentially works itself, he wants more power when he already has too much and he is unable to complete 3rd grade math calculations. Normally, this would exclude you from holding one of the most powerful offices in the country, but as has been the norm with this Administration-those were actually the qualifications they searched for when looking for someone to fill position of Secretary of the Treasury.

See what kowtowing gets you?

A Nigerian man, claiming to be linked to al-Qaeda, allegedly tried to set off an incendiary device aboard a transatlantic airplane Friday as it descended toward Detroit's airport in what the White House called an attempted act of terrorism.
Thank goodness Obama has been kowtowing to our enemies and such.....otherwise the terrorists would really be mad at us.

Will the libs never learn? The terrorists don't hate us because we are arrogant. They don't hate us because we are powerful. They hate us because their religion tells them that anything else is to be eliminated.

It's good that Obama wants to spend less on defense and counter-terrorism measures. That should make the al-Qaeda happy.

Face Punch Wednesday

(If you are new to Face Punch Wednesday, please read this post before you complain-I don't want to hear it.)

All Senate Republicans-Republicans claim they want no part of the travesty being visited on the American people in the form of bondage-not the good kind mind you-or indentured servitude, called Health Care Reform, but they have used a fraction of the procedures available to actually stop it. There were many parliamentary maneuvers which could have been used to slow down, or maybe even stop the health care bill from advancing, but instead they stood around offering up meaningless amendments and giving endless speeches, which has really done nothing to quash this purely tyrannical abuse of power. 1 frillion punches for you all for not growing a pair before it was too late.

The Pimps on Capitol Hill-They sold their constituents like crack whores for this farce of a Health care Reform Bill.

Build-a-Bear, Inc.-Build-a-Bear is taking their desire to make fake things real a little too far, by airing a webisode featuring Santa and all kinds of creatures great and small, talking about how the entire North Pole will melt in two days due to global warming. They substantiate their claims with false information, outright lies and a scientific experiment-which is neither scientific or an experiment. A Build-a-Bear spokesperson then goes on to claim they never intended to politicize a topic, they just wanted to educated children about the environment.......um, which is weird considering next to the health care debate, climate change is the hottest topic on the map right now. What's next?- a webisode featuring Dr. Bear who refuses to treat Grandma so they can educate children on the benefits of socialized medicine? BaB gets 100 punches and not another dime of my money. Ever.

We will break the law to get health care reform.....

As is well known, the coming train-wreck trumpeted as health care reform passed the first major hurdle under the cover of darkness, in the wee hours of the night. Voting along straight party lines at 1am on Monday morning, the legislation was passed out of cloture, allowing it to advance one more step toward becoming reality.

It moved a significant step forward in a vote held shortly after 1 a.m. ET. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was able to hold together all 58 Democrats and two independents to overcome unanimous GOP opposition in a 60-40 vote, after winning over the last known holdout, Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb. Sixty votes was the minimum amount needed to move the bill forward.

Over the last several months it has become clear Democrats will do whatever it takes to get some form of health care legislation passed into law. Though the most liberal started with great aspirations of huge, sweeping "reforms" such as a public run option, coverage for illegal immigrants, unfettered access to abortion, (paid for with federal dollars) and other ridiculous and ruinous policies, many of those items have been dropped. Now not only are we going to get a bill that does nothing make make improvements to the current system-no matter what side of the aisle you're on-but it would appear at this point the only people who will benefit from this crap legislation are insurance companies-who's profits will soar-and the federal government-with a whole slew of new taxes, fines and penalties, to be foisted upon the American people.

Sadly, one of the worst aspects of this legislation is the fact that it looks as though it will be passed along straight party lines. Never before in history has such major legislation been enacted without some form of bipartisan support. While Democrats like to assail Republicans for being the party of "no", insinuating they offered no alternatives, this is patently false. Republicans have offered several alternatives. The problem is Democrats wanted no part if anything looking like compromise. They pandered to the liberal base and now even most of them lost. Rather than compromise and bipartisanship we got over-reaching by lawmakers and ended up with essentially nothing more than huge government intervention and a boondoggle of cash for our representatives to waste and pilfer at will. If this is Nancy Pelosi's version of Christmas, she can keep it.

Finally, it is very important people realize Democrats will do anything to get this bill passed and then mandated forever into law. On Saturday, they completely ignored parliamentary procedure when Sen. Bernie Sanders to cut off the reading of his single-payer proposal.
When an amendment is introduced, it has to be read on the Senate floor unless the rest of the Senate agrees to cut off the reading, and typically, the requirement is waived through "unanimous consent." Yet today, Sen. Tom Coburn insisted that Sanders' 767 page bill be read on the Senate floor, which was on pace to take more than 12 hours. But about three hours into the reading, Sanders withdrew his amendment, and this stopped the reading of the bill -- even without unanimous consent.

Then on Monday Sen. Jim DeMint pointed out language in the bill which will make parts of it nearly unrepealable by future lawmakers.
there's one provision that i found particularly troubling and it's under section
c, titled "limitations on changes to this subsection."
and i quote -- "it shall not be in order in the senate or the house of representatives to consider any bill, resolution, amendment, or conference report that would repeal or
otherwise change this subsection."
this is not legislation. it's not law. this is a rule change. it's a pretty big deal. we will be passing a new law and at the same time creating a senate rule that makes it out of order to amend or even repeal the law.
i'm not even sure that it's constitutional, but if it is, it most certainly is a senate rule. i don't see why the majority party wouldn't put this in every bill. if you like your law, you most certainly would want it to have force for future senates.
i mean, we want to bind future congresses. this goes to the fundamental purpose of senate rules: to prevent a tyrannical majority from trampling the rights of the minority or of future congresses.

Not only are they passing reform no one wants, they are now including changes to the rules about the way laws are made (or unmade) without a 2/3 majority vote on it. This is not only egregious, it is outright illegal. Mr. Reid cannot change the rules of the House and Senate to suit him. That isn't the way our Constitution works. It is clear this Democratic majority truly believes they are above the law or reproach. It is a disgusting perversion to believe one side of the isle is beyond question. Ever. For all eternity.

Stop scaring people.....unless you're Obama

Yesterday, President Obama, being interviewed by Charlie Gibson, told the American people if his healthcare legislation does not pass the country will go bankrupt. Didn't he just tell Republicans earlier this week to "stop scaring people" with misinformation.......

I guess that only applies if your not the President.
The president laid out a dire scenario of what will happen if his health care reform effort fails.

“If we don't pass it, here's the guarantee….your premiums will go up, your employers are going to load up more costs on you,” he said. “Potentially they're going to drop your coverage, because they just can't afford an increase of 25 percent, 30 percent in terms of the costs of providing health care to employees each and every year. “
The sad fact is, if the current proposals pass, the American people will go bankrupt. What President Obama fails to acknowledge is all of those things are what is going to happen under his plan. Employers will drop coverage all together, forcing people into some kind of public plan-which will be there in the end, make no mistake about that-or they will switch over to plans that have more out of pocket costs, higher deductibles and worse coverage. For the people hardest hit by rising medical costs, there is no relief:
Having this new, mandated “coverage” will not stop you from being bankrupted by accumulated medical debt should you get seriously ill. Insurance that does not protect you from financial ruin if you get sick makes a mockery of the entire concept health insurance.
President Obama can say it over and over, and louder and louder, but this bill does nothing to actually protect the individual who needs it the most. We currently have a system that provides emergency care for all people and that, unfortunately, leaves the middle-class out in the cold if you have a serious health issue-you face high co-pays and out-of-pocket costs under many plans, that's true-but guess what? Those costs are higher and the coverage provided is worse under this plan. The middle-class pays higher premiums, has more out-of-pocket costs and will still go bankrupt if faced with a true medical crisis.

I agree with the President on one issue: this Administration should stop scaring people with lies and mis-information. If you really want true healthcare reform, then dump this crap you're looking at right now and put real reforms in a much smaller bill. Only address the actual problems we have-stop trying to take over of 1/6th of the economy, while doing nothing for those that need it most. How about that Mr. President?

Lauer wants Steele to get Lieberman in line?

It seems Matt Lauer has forgotten that Joe Lieberman is not a member of the GOP. While once again selling Republicans as the party blocking passage of the Fauxcare Bill, Lauer seemed to be blaming them for the fact that Lieberman isn't going to vote for it:
LAUER: Let's talk about health care reform. The President says he thinks the Senate will pass his version of the bill by Christmas. Joe Lieberman says he's not voting for it in it's current form. So is the President's stocking going to be empty on Christmas Day?
STEELE: I hope so, Matt, I really do. You know it's an amazing feat of tin-ear, you know, episodes here in Washington where people are not listening to what folks back at home are saying. I think the polls, latest polls are showing up to 60 percent of the people want this thing either stopped, slowed down or somehow modified to, to take into account, as, as Savannah reported, the spending. I mean, no one's telling us where this money is gonna come from to pay for a lot of the, the changes that this health care bill has in it. You have Lieberman and others sitting there going, "Well I don't know, this is not what we thought it was gonna be, there's still a little bit of a public option here or there."
Interestingly, not only can the Republicans not stop a light bulb changing right now in the House or Senate, but also Joe isn't a Republican...... Why is he grilling Steele on whether or not this thing is going to pass. Ask the Democrats (more and more everyday) coming out against it. Ask the Independents. Ask the people who actually have the power to pass or fail a behemoth package usurping 1/6 of our nations economy. Stop blaming the Republicans.

It is fun to see the clear libs like Lauer clawing and scraping at any excuse they can find for why this monstrosity hasn't passed yet. They just can't admit most sane people, be them democrat or republican, do not want this. Only the most left of the party want single payer and refuse to acknowledge the risks-oh be honest, the clear cut path-of that happening under any version of the healthcare bills currently being evaluated. With over 60% of the American people against these bills, moderate Democrats, Republicans or any politician with a brain won't touch this thing with a 10 foot poll.

Sorry Matt....you're asking the wrong guy.

The thirst for power cannot exceed reality.

This week 10 Senators reached a secret deal behind closed doors, advancing one more step toward government run healthcare. On one hand it eliminates the so called "public option"; on the other, it expands the already bloated and broke public system known as Medicare.

The deal, which emerged late Tuesday night after days of secret negotiations, would eliminate the new government-run insurance plan that many liberals had seen as the linchpin of meaningful reform.

But paradoxically, what lies at the heart of the promise may be a more durable, if initially smaller, form of the public option: an expansion of Medicare, the huge federal health insurance program for seniors, to include millions of Americans ages 55 through 64.

Lowering the age for Medicare and raising the age of SCHIP will provide the single-payer lovers with exactly what they want-unified, government run healthcare that will break what is left of America. It is impossible to understand how putting more people into a system that is already unsustainable is a good idea. There are no lower payments and fee schedules to be implemented. Hospitals are already losing millions on their government programs. Even the much hailed Mayo Clinic sees these changes as nothing but the complete and utter failure they are. After losing a reported $840 million to Medicare, more cuts do not appeal to them.

Never mind that Medicare has done nothing to control the costs of medical care:
Myth #1: Medicare has reduced seniors' out-of-pocket costs.
Fact: In 1965, the Medicare program was sold to the American people as the best way to help reduce seniors' out-of-pocket health care costs. Yet after it was created, costs skyrocketed and by 1985, Rep. Claude Pepper (Dem.-FL) reported that Medicare beneficiaries were paying 20 percent of their income for health care, the same as in 1964--the year before Medicare was passed.
3 Seniors end up paying more for health care when costs skyrocket under a government-financed monopoly for medical care. All told, seniors' out-of-pocket health care costs have gown from $4.5 billion in 1977 to over $26 billion today.
Removing the public option and replacing it with the false utopia of stuffing everyone into Medicare is not the answer either. The Democrats have to realize the thirst for power cannot come at the expense of reality. There will be nothing left to control if the country collapses under the weight of single-payer disguised as expansion. If we have been ineffective up to now, how will we possibly be better with millions more in the system, many of whom will not be paying their own way.

True reform can be had. There are improvements to be made in access for those with pre-existing conditions and the unemployed or under-employed. Shattering the backs of the middle class to pay for it, while adding additional bodies to the bursting Medicare roles will do nothing to improve care or control costs.

Guest post: Feet on Fire

Written by Brian Bollmann
(Cross posted here. Brian has some other really great stuff. Go. Read.)

In 2009, a year that will live in infamy, it will be recorded that our Congress and President enacted the largest tax hike on the middle class of American citizens in the history of the Republic. In this dreadful year, with total disregard for the mandate of the People, in denial of millions of enraged citizens and in utter contempt of their oath to defend The Constitution, Congress and the President enacted $787 Billion of Stimulus, $410 Billion in Omnibus Spending, a budget with a $1.4 Trillion Deficit, raised the Debt Limit by $1.8 Trillion and stood by as the national debt rose past $12 Trillion.

It was said that if we take all the profits from all U.S. corporations for the next 200+ years, we could not pay off the $12 Trillion in admitted debt – not including the unfunded mandates of Medicare and Social Security. This is a total disgrace.

Yet, in the week just ended 12/11/2009, Congress has proposed an Omnibus Spending bill for another $447 Billion with more than 5000 earmarks! 5000+ earmarks – of which, many STILL came from the purported “fiscally responsible” Republican Party members.

All sanity has left the square diamond that is Washington, DC.

Americans! Pay attention to this next statement: Every time Washington politicians increase spending… …they literally suck the life out of you. Not figuratively. Not anecdotally. Literally!

You and I have to work for every dollar that a politician spends. You and I must toil in some manner to pay for the iPhone of the low level bureaucrat making twice our wage and writing legislation to remove our gun rights. You and I must labor to bear the expense of creating documents the EPA uses to declare Carbon Dioxide a noxious chemical. You and I.

When a bureaucrat, Congressman or President decide to spend $11 instead of $10, you and I must work, usually away from our family and friends, to pay that additional $1. Government bureaucrats, Congress Members and Presidents don’t work for that $1. We do.

For most of us, ‘working’ is time away from things we’d rather be doing: family, friends, faith, hobbies and love.

The government is literally taking your time. It is literally sucking your ‘life time’ away from you.

Happy?!?! Think we should give more of our time to the Government? Think we need more spending; more iPhone toting bureaucrats; more EPA documents?

The time has come to revolt against this government; to take back our time for ourselves; to win back our freedom; to re-win our independence.

I propose a New Independence Day! I propose that, when enacted, new Constitutional Amendments allow Americans to spend no more than one-quarter of their lives working to support ALL levels of Government (and their bureaucracies), pay off the national debt, balance the budget, and set aside emergency funds.

Therefore, declare March 31, 2011 as your New Tax Independence Day. And celebrate every March 31st henceforth as Tax Independence Day.

True freedom to allow your labors to benefit you and your family. True freedom from Government mandates, out-of-control spending, hypocritical legislation, and unfathomable mounting debt!

The first questions we must ask our elected officials and those that wish to receive our votes: Will you submit and tenaciously advance constitutional amendments to free the American people from the bonds of slavery this Government has placed upon its Citizens – nay…….its OWNERS?!?! Will you amend the Constitution to balance the budget? Will you vote to repeal the 16th and 17th Amendments? Will you work to ensure all Americans are subject to pay the government's bills for no more than one-quarter of their lives? Will you guarantee this country always has Emergency Funds available?

If the answer is anything but an emphatic, "YES!" .....you will know that politician is not working for you. That politician is working in their own interest………and that of the Government. At that point, you may as well vote for a liberal! Because that is what you've got.

Hold their feet to the fire! Our time is now.........or you can explain to your children and grandchildren why you didn't stand up!

Moore from the Right

As most of you know I started a new online T.V. show two weeks ago, "Moore from the Right". The content of the show is centered around current events, mostly politics to be sure, but it is my intention to cover anything that is hot in the news.
A fun, interactive, smart show discussing politics and current events. Sometimes sweet and always snarky-join Michelle Moore for the most informative and exciting 30 minutes you will find anywhere on the Internet!
Our first show went off without a hitch. I started with one of my favorites, GatewayPundit, Jim Hoft. We talked Climategate/the fallacy of Cap and Trade for the majority of the show. Jim has done some great work highlighting all of the information coming out on the hacked emails and as always he gave us fantastic insight into the real story. Jim was a great guest and I look forward to having him back in January. It is my plan to talk him into doing a semi-regular thing with me.

This week I had Luke Livingston on. Luke is the Executive Producer of "Tea Party Movie: The Documentary Film" and owner of Ground Floor Video, a video production company. I wanted to talk to Luke because I had seen a preview of the Tea Party movie and thought it was fantastic. As someone who has been involved with Tea Party since before it was Tea Party, I can tell you it really brings back memories to see all the hard work and dedication it took to get this thing started. (Not that we aren't all still hard working and dedicated-WE ARE. Now though, it has been incorporated into our lives. Now it is something we do, not something we are trying to figure out how to fit in. Weird how things change.) The documentary follows 5 main folks who first got involved with the Tea Party movement-before it was really a movement-and then their rise into full-blown activism. The documentary is exceptionally well done. I encourage anyone who has been involved with Tea Party or who has secretly desired to be involved with Tea Party to watch this movie. Luke was a fantastic guest. They are running a great Christmas special on the site-buy two get one free. Promote capitalism and get your copy today!

It is my plan to do a better job of posting each week who our guest will be and our topic for the night. There are no archives of the shows at this time, but that should be changing very soon. For now, you'll just have to be sure to watch us LIVE every Thursday at 9pmCST on PreppyDudeTV!

Follow the Constitution....when it's convenient.

On Friday U.S. District Judge Nina Gershon ordered the government to open the spigot of fraud, waste and abuse and begin funneling money back to ACORN. In what can only be considered "irony", one sticking point centers around the "contracts" awarded to ACORN by the Federal government and the "legality" of not following those contracts until they are broken or modified by a proper court of law and a guilty verdict..........(I know. A lot of quotes there....I do that when I am indicating "What a COMPLETE joke this is.")
ACORN's lawsuit was filed in federal court in Brooklyn and sought reinstatement of the funds. Quigley said millions of dollars in funds should begin to flow again to ACORN next week. The judge said the "public will not suffer harm by allowing the plaintiffs to continue work on contracts duly awarded by federal agencies."
So apparently the way this works is if you are a creditor to company the government wants to control (banks, car companies) and they decide not to pay you then contracts, legality, and the Constitution have no place in negotiation. After all, it's in the public best interest. But, if you are one of this Administrations favorite groups-it's all law, all the time. Well, unless you're the actual group, then there is no need for legality. Take our tax dollars, please, use them however you want. Embezzlement? Great! Underage prostitution? Fabulous! Courses on tax evasion? Wonderful! As long as the White House loves you, the Constitution applies and your nay-sayers will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Some FUN from Tea Party on 11-28

I was uploading my pictures to my Facebook account tonight from the Tea Party we had in St. Louis on 11/28. If you missed it-I have the entire livestream here and a post about it here.

While I was going through the photos, I found a couple of rarities-not only me NOT behind my computer running the stream, but also reminding me that I have made some very good friends in this battle. Goodness knows these are not EVEN CLOSE to all of the great friends (pft....nearly family) I have gained, standing shoulder to shoulder with these folks, but here are a few shots that make me smile. I hope it gives you a small sense of what we really mean to each other. We're not paid, we are hard working volunteers, but I'll tell you what most of the time there is no monetary value that could be put on this experience.......

RebootCongress and me. A smart guy and a good friend. He keeps me in line when I need "in lining" and lets me be when I'm doing my thing. Plus he's great at reminding me of all the things I tend to forget..........He'll send a nasty email if that's what it takes :)

SharpElbows and me. He is the funniest, sweetest guy ever-he also has a way of getting the BEST interviews. St. Louis Tea Party wouldn't be the same without Sharp. Plus, look how cool he made me look in this pose.......

GatewayPundit and me. Jim is a top blogger, a news breaker and news maker.....and one of the most regular guys you'd ever want to meet. I have become pretty good friends with Jim over this last year and I am so glad. What a fantastic mind and great person.

There are so many more......I think I will try to get photos like this with all of them and we'll make it a series.

All the people I love to Tea Party with!

Harry Reid-This week he compared folks who are against the current healthcare bills working their way through the House and Senate to those who were against abolishing slavery, or women voting or civil rights.....which is so weird considering that all of those things were pushed through by Republicans or southern (i.e. moderate) Democrats. So not only are civil rights and equal treatment not even close to the same thing as forcing us into government healthcare....oh wait sure it is they are taking away our civil right of freedom of choice and forcing us into government slavery to pay for it. 100 punches

CBS Advertising Department: CBS has taken the Children's classic cartoon "Frosty the Snowman" and done a mash-up with some audio from the show "How I Met Your Mother" to create a web advertisement for the How I met your mother. Whoever made this decision is a total moron. They have taken audio of Barney talking about strippers, whores, pornography, sadomasochism, sexual promiscuity,-all kinds of adult stuff and attribute it to Frosty saying it TO CHILDREN in the cartoon. The adult context of the audio is bad enough on a classic kids cartoon, but seeing Frosty talk about those thing with children is just too creepy and pedophilia-ish. 10 punches

Nancy Pelosi-OGM Nan wants to use unspent TARP funds as a “good pay-for” for a second round of stimulus spending. Soooooo way back in January when we were all blogging about how TARP would just become a never ending salad bar of dolla dolla bill for the government to use as it sees fit.

Barbara Boxer thinks access to abortion is JUST LIKE access to Viagra.....nice

Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) seems to think men's ability to have sex is the exact same thing as KILLING BABIES. They should both be covered under your insurance at will. Great, well at least if you're out there doing all the girls, you won't have to bothered with those pesky consequences.........

Unbelievable.

Grassroots activists ask for a meeting-NO VIDEO ALLOWED-watch the video

Today several members of different grassroots organizations around St. Louis gathered at the St. Louis County government Building, office of St. Louis County Counselor Patricia Redington, to deliver two petitions demanding the charges be reviewed and revised in the cases concerning Kenneth Gladny and Kelly Owens assault(s) which took place last August at a Russ Carnahan townhall.

Here a quick pre-interview with Frieda Keough and Kelly Owens:

We went on up to the office to present the petitions to Ms. Redington. When two of us showed up running video, Deputy Counselor Bob Grant came out after about 10 minutes and told us Ms. Redington wouldn't meet with us on camera.....which I videoed :)

We decided to go ahead and shoot video of Freida reading the statement that would accompany the petitions. Here is the statement that goes with the petitions presented:

We then went in and had a meeting-which I did not record (as requested)....this time. We are giving Ms. Redington the opportunity to review the new facts presented and take further action; moving it up the food chain so to speak, referring this case to a higher office as it should have been from the beginning. While we got little satisfaction from Patricia Redinton's office, we do understand that we must work within the confines of the law. We hope now that more evidence has been given to Ms. Redington she will forward this case to a state or federal prosecuting entity as should have been done at the start.

Stay tuned.......................

I didn't know Senator Whitehouse was deaf and blind

Really? Are you stupid or willfully ignorant? Either way it's pathetic. When ANYONE in this Administration claims to not know about something that everyone else in the world knows about, it just make them look stupid and pathetic. I don't know about you, but I am sick and tired of the stupid and pathetic running our country.......

EPA set to strong arm on CO2

Apparently no one informed the EPA about Climategate.....or they have and that is exactly why they want to declare CO2 a "Public Danger" immediately. This was a threat for several months and it is my guess now that the science of climate change is being called into question they feel they have no time to waste. The EPA may make a move as early as Monday to gain another avenue of control over the environment by taking over the regulation of CO2 gasses and penalizing their emitters. "Emitters" will cover everything from cow butts to manufactures-leaving no chance for error in decimating the economy.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will early next week, possibly as soon as Monday, officially declare carbon dioxide a public danger, a trigger that could mean regulation for emitters across the economy, according to several people close to the matter.

Such an "endangerment" decision is necessary for the EPA to move ahead early next year with new emission standards for cars. EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson has said it could also mean large emitters such as power stations, cement kilns, crude-oil refineries and chemical plants would have to curb their greenhouse gas output.
The timing, right before the conferences at Copenhagen, couldn't be better either. With hopes of real Cap and Trade dying by a very public blood letting, this Administration is surely scrambling for another way to force this economy killer through. If they can't get it by passing new laws with taxes and fines, they will have the EPA regulate it; either way companies will forced to spend the money and those costs will be passed on to the American people. This tactic is no better and in fact may be worse because the EPA isn't bound in the same way by the constitution and the rules concerning governance. There is no one the American people can call or petition to stop ridiculous regulations from getting through. It's much harder to bring any pressure to bear.

If we need a reminder of the damage the EPA can do, just look at their effect on the economy of California.....

New Reagan Revolution-The NEW Operation Coffee Cup

One of the most tireless and dedicated freedom fighters I know, Jeff Reynolds, has launched a new initiative this week on his web site New Reagan Revolution. Reviving an old concept, "Operation Coffee Cup", with a new twist. The idea is to get folks to come together, looking to the timeless words and wisdom of Ronald Reagan, and get them to send a "Coffee Cup Message" to their elected officials, reminding them that we have no interest in socialized medicine.

I know that we feel deflated, frustrated, tired, and outraged that our elected officials have abjectly refused to listen to us, and they are plunging headlong into forcing socialized medicine upon the American people. And I know that everyone I speak to wants to send a message.

I say that we encourage every concerned citizen to send each of their representatives a Coffee Cup, with a message inside from http://www.newreaganrevolution.com/ reminding them who they work for and why what they're doing will destroy our country.

Each coffee cup will say, "Reagan was right then ... and he's STILL right today!" Inside each cup will be the text of Reagan's talk from his seminal AMA LP record from 1961.
Here's how you do this:

Visit the New Reagan Revolution Storefront

  • Order cups one at a time, not several at once.
FOR THE SHIPPING ADDRESS, ENTER THE ADDRESS OF YOUR ELECTED OFFICIAL. (Senator mailing addresses here) (House of Reps mailing addresses here)
  • Repeat as many times as you like until all the representatives you want to get the message are included.
  • If you like it, don't forget to order one for yourself or a liberal friend.
  • Important note - as of the launch of this operation (Dec 1, 2009), shipping times will be approximately 2-3 weeks. This will coincide with the height of the floor debate in the Senate, and the operation will continue if/when a bill is passed and needs to be reconciled in conference committee with the House bill. As this operation ramps up, shipping times are expected to be greatly reduced.
Send Reid and Pelosi those coffee cups. Maybe a some real wisdom will get inside their heads if we can force feed it to them through their coffee.

Face Punch Wednesday

(If you are new to Face Punch Wednesday, please read this post before you complain-I don't want to hear it.)

The fabulously gay Adam Lambert made headlines last week at the AMA's by not only kissing another man on stage in front of millions of people (lame, but forgivable) but then went on to simulate oral sex on another dude and drag two of his backup singers across the stage by leashes-then he was sad when Good Morning America decided not to have him on the next day. Suddenly there were calls of homophobic reaction and a double standard......to this I say REALLY? You think the issue the networks have with you is that you are gay? Um no. let me clear it up for you sweetie..........I don't wanna see a chick do that a guy on national T.V. either. 10 punches for having no respect for anyones moral behavior-regardless of orientation.

To the climate changers, global warming alarmists and Al "I love me some Twinkies" Gore all I can say at this point is SUCK IT! Stop trying to defend the indefensible and stop trying to make us believe that the emails weren't about manipulating data in your favor to get the desired results. Of course it was and for that you all get 100 punches

Last week the Preventive Services Task Force Department of Health and Human Services recommended that not only women stop getting mammograms so early, rather finding it is better to put them off until any cancer would be completely untreatable, but also that the teaching self exam is a waste of time and "shows no improvement in the death rate." So, better to let even one person get advanced breast cancer that kills them rather than hand out a card & give a five-minute instruction on a preventative care technique that is completely free and done at home.......welcome to government run health care ladies. 100 punches for trying to kill off all the women.

Iran gives the finger to the U.S., going to build more nuclear plants.

Despite the fact that Obama and the U.N. have been super nice and sweet to Iran, and more importantly Ahmadinejad, it looks as though they are more determined than ever to build additional nuclear plants around the country. Sunday Iran announced they would be building 10 more plants.
Iran angrily refused Sunday to comply with a demand by the United Nations nuclear agency to cease work on a once-secret nuclear fuel enrichment plant, and escalated the confrontation by declaring it would construct 10 more such plants.
While Iran likes to talk about energy and their growing demands there is little doubt that if these programs are allowed to continue at such a rate Iran will have dangerous nuclear abilities. Once acquired, there will be no taking them away. Moves like this are clearly in an effort to show that the U.N. and moreover the United Sates, has no influence over Iran. A weak foreign policy leaves the door open for rogue countries to do as they wish. If we do not support and defend the sanctions and resolutions against such countries they will become more dangerous and out of control. As we saw during the Clinton years, ignoring such threats as this is a major mistake when it comes to foreign affairs.

A Quick Hit on Being Thankful

I am working this morning..... frankly if you know me-you know, I am ALWAYS working. It's just what I do. Some of it paid, some of it not, but all of it fulfills me in some way. I need that in my life; someone close to me recently told me it makes me who I am and I would say they are right.

I took a little jaunt off the beaten path of research and began reading some Thanksgiving posts which got me thinking about all the things I have to be thankful for. There are so many things-I doubt I could list them all. I can think of a few though......
  • While I am not out-loud religious, I am thankful that God has allowed me to live this long and see there are better things in this world. Many times I wondered if that would ever happen. No matter how dark things became, God gave me strength and endurance to get through to the other side........now that I'm here it is so wonderful. I wouldn't have wanted to miss this for the world.
  • I am thankful for my daughters and that they are happy and healthy. I always remind myself to not live my life with regret. If I regret one thing it leads me away from all the wonderful things I have now. They fall into this category. Out of anguish and horror I got them. They are my life. I would have endured anything for them.
  • I am thankful for my husband. He has been there to support me and let me find myself. I was young and single with two babies-one of whom was very hard to raise for a while-and he took a chance on me anyway. But not for him, I have no doubt my life would have taken a very different path. He was the first man I ever met who accepted me for who I am, even when I didn't know who I was and I thank him for it. He saw in me what I have become-I guess it was there all the time.
  • I am thankful for my parents. They raised me to be a good person and have a kind heart. Even when I lost my way, they did not lose faith. My mom gave me strength and independence. My dad, a quite dedication to family and acceptance that even though we might not always see it right away, God has a plan for us.
  • I am thankful to have so many friends in my life that care about me. It wasn't always that way and it feels good. I kept my life closed and guarded for many years. Now my circle has grown quite wide and there are days when I might not make it through except for the love and support of those I have chosen to surround myself with.
  • I am thankful for the life I have built. I cannot express in words what that means to me. I can only say if you had asked me 25 years ago what my life would look like at 40, I wouldn't have been able to tell you. You can't see anything when you stare into a deep black hole............

So thank you dear reader. Thanks for coming in here and looking at my life from the inside for a few minutes. I am thankful for you guys too-I am inspired to write by the events in the world, but enjoy writing for those I can share it with.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!

Re-education camps for Minnesota's teachers-to-be.

Following in the ideological path of the Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings, the University of Minnesota has decided newly minted Teaching students must embrace the idea that America is a racist, sexist, homophobic place to be. No more teaching our youngsters about reading, writing and 'rithmatic; the new most important skill our children must be taught is valuing race, class and gender politics over anything else. Based on a report compiled last summer by the Race, Culture, Class and Gender Task Group at the U's College of Education and Human Development, training and teaching the teachers is being perverted in to cultural re-education to fit a very leftist agenda. Then those teachers can spread the agenda by pounding it into children's heads across the country, regardless of what parents want or believe.
In a report compiled last summer, the Race, Culture, Class and Gender Task Group at the U's College of Education and Human Development recommended that aspiring teachers there must repudiate the notion of "the American Dream" in order to obtain the recommendation for licensure required by the Minnesota Board of Teaching. Instead, teacher candidates must embrace -- and be prepared to teach our state's kids -- the task force's own vision of America as an oppressive hellhole: racist, sexist and homophobic.

The task group is part of the Teacher Education Redesign Initiative, a multiyear project to change the way future teachers are trained at the U's flagship campus. The initiative is premised, in part, on the conviction that Minnesota teachers' lack of "cultural competence" contributes to the poor academic performance of the state's minority students. Last spring, it charged the task group with coming up with
recommendations to change this. In January, planners will review the recommendations and decide how to proceed.

The report advocates making race, class and gender politics the "overarching framework" for all teaching courses at the U. It calls for evaluating future teachers in both coursework and practice teaching based on their willingness to fall into ideological lockstep.
Gone are the days when parents will teach what is moral, right, wrong, or acceptable. Here are the days when being raised by gay parents or black parents automatically puts you at a disadvantage that must be scrubbed. Judgements and resulting behaviors are now being positioned in the class room. Parents are no longer the standard bearers. Political correctness is gone, being tolerant and fair isn't the bar to reach anymore-we must go further, killing off any semblance of family, tradition or morality. The left does not want the traditionalists or conservatives to "force" Christianity or morals down their throats-in fact they do not even want to be aware it exists. But, the rest of us must acknowledge and embrace that which they see as necessary. Extreme views, deviant behavior, immoral life styles, those things should not only be tolerated, but taught and exalted to the highest of the high. To tolerate them will not do. Conforming to believing is all there is now.

Conservatives might take a look at Saul Alinsky and Cloward-Piven

I wouldn't often recommend civil disobedience on such a grand scale, but as they say, if you don't do it, who will.......

Jim Yardley over at American Thinker writes that if the monstrosity of healthcare reform passes, the folks might want to take some advice from Saul Alinsky and Cloward-Piven.
If Obamacare was currently law, I might be guilty of inciting criminality. Nah, not "might be." I'd be guilty as hell. If this abominable law is passed, I think the ultimate act of civil disobedience might be the most effective way to bring these politicians to their senses.

During the Vietnam era, some men were willing to go to jail rather than serve in what they considered an immoral war. A LOT more just cut and went to Canada. I can't speak for all my brothers in Vietnam, but I know the vast majority of soldiers with whom I served had enormous respect for those who went to jail as a matter of conscience, and utter disdain for those who ran and hid in Canada. I thought at the time that if those who went north had overwhelmed our prison system, the war would have been ended years earlier.

I think the same strategy would work now. Overwhelm our prison system, and see how quickly the laws (and some incumbents) are changed.

Thanks Saul Alinsky, and Doctors Cloward and Piven. Even if it's not the change the two of you hoped for, we might just see if your ideas really work.
Unfortunately, if the current bills being considered can be married in some agreeable way and the "now in power" folks in D.C. have no concern for what the American people want, I have a feeling you will see quite a bit of civil disobedience in this vein. When the people realize they will pay on this bill 6 years before any real benefit is received, more will become engaged. The more population is engaged, the more difficult it is for our leaders to ignore us. I hate the thought of this thing turning into something unruly and ugly, but if they're not going to listen to us now..........when will they?

Mounting evidence of going "Galt"

I couldn't agree more. The problem is, it couldn't be more depressing:
With the threat of this administration and congress, what is the possible motivation for anyone with ideas and capital to invest their time, talent and money into a risky endeavor? There appears to be none. In fact there appear to be powerful incentives not to invest any time and treasure -- thus an economy with almost zero creative inertia.

For Obama voters, almost zero creative inertia means almost no one is having bright ideas, starting businesses based on them and hiring employees to help share the dream.
Sadly this Administration just doesn't get it. This is exactly why the economy isn't recovering. As a small business owner I would love to make some changes, maybe even hire someone, but with all the unknown variables there is no way that is going to happen. This Administration is not only sucking the life out of me, but with all the turmoil, mounting deficits with no end in sight and a clear desire to grab as much power as possible with little concern for what America wants-well, I and millions of other small business owners will maintain the status quo. I would never give the government the satisfaction of taking what I have worked so hard to achieve. I'll stop doing it before that will happen.

Smoke and Mirrors? More like Smokin' Crack...

In what can only be described as the biggest lie told........today, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid claims his new healthcare bill will cost $$848 billion in the first 10 years.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid claims that his health care bill costs about $848 billion in the first 10 years, well under President Obama's $900 billion target.

That's for 10 years of revenue-gathering, but only six years of service, according to the analysis by the Congressional Budget Office.

Adding in expenses beyond the 10-year mark drastically skews the overall cost, making the $848 billion a mere fraction of the long-term price tag of overhauling America's health care system -- and that's if no changes are made to the legislation during that time
This is ridiculous. They will pass something the majority of the American people do not want with lies and falsehoods. It's bad enough that they can never stick to a budget to begin with, but the chances of them not adding to it and not changing legislation over the years is negative eleventy-trillion-gazillion. The truth is, not only are there no cost savings in the bill (again, just because you are paying less doesn't mean it costs less) but in fact in the first ten years of actual spending, the costs explode and go up to around $2.5 trillion.

Smoke and mirrors indeed........

Could lose confidence?

President Obama warns there could be a double dip recession at some point as "people could lose confidence in the U.S. economy."

They could lose confidence? Are you kidding me? If you can't see that they already have, then this country is in even trouble than I thought.

The Dean of Harvard Medical School agrees with Conservatives

I'm not shocked. Are you?

Health 'Reform' Gets a Failing Grade
Speeches and news reports can lead you to believe that proposed congressional legislation would tackle the problems of cost, access and quality. But that's not true. The various bills do deal with access by expanding Medicaid and mandating subsidized insurance at substantial cost—and thus addresses an important social goal. However, there are no provisions to substantively control the growth of costs or raise the quality of care. So the overall effort will fail to qualify as reform.
Go read the whole thing. It's what we've been saying for months.

Put taxpayer money where your mouth is.

Democrats are grasping at straws to suddenly become the party of fiscal responsibility, while at the same time increasing the federal debt exponentially-which is an oxymoron.......or maybe just moronic. Either way.

Last week the Dems came up with the fantastic idea that they could pay down some of the federal deficit by using TARP funds-yeah, moronic. This week they are balking at South Dakota Senator John Thune's suggestion of ending TARP. You know TARP, that which will surely become a permanent slush fund if allowed to continue beyond the set ending date of December 31 of this year. Funny enough Dems would even consider extending what was billed and written as a temporary, emergency move to stop failure of the perceived "too big to fail" financial institutions.
The Republican yesterday introduced a bill that would bar Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner from extending the $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief
Program beyond its expiration date on December 31. The legislation would not
affect the roughly $400 billion worth of handouts that remain with the likes of
Citigroup or General Motors. It would, however, halt further lending and
immediately return the fund's $300 billion in unobligated money to taxpayers.

The White House keeps claiming it wants to do just that, but Mr. Geithner
also refuses to rule out signing a TARP renewal. What the Administration won't
say is that it likes retaining a slush fund that can be doled out carte-blanche
to politically worthy recipients. Only this week AFL-CIO President Richard
Trumka dreamed up a new use for TARP money, demanding it be recycled into
favored community banks or small businesses. This is how an emergency bailout
program morphs into a White House's "walking around" money.
Just one of the billion-trillion reasons why we should never take the government at their word. How's that deficit neutral, possibly even deficit lowering Healthcare Bill looking now-especially once you realize it will cost $289 Billion dollars.......

They waste $98 Billion-but they want to control the Healthcare system

In a newly released financial report about 5 percent of spending in federal programs for fiscal year 2009 was improper. While this is not particularly shocking news by itself, it should be a huge red flashing warning light as just another reason why the government has no business running something as large and problematic as healthcare. At this point most of the waste and fraud is coming from the healthcare that the government is already running with report listing payments of roughly $36 billion to Medicare as questionable or fraudulent.
More than $98 billion in taxpayer dollars spent by government agencies was wasted, much of it on questionable claims for tax credits and Medicare benefits, representing an increase of $26 billion from the previous year.

In all, about 5 percent of spending in federal programs in fiscal year 2009 was improper, according to new details of a government financial report that were released Tuesday. Saying the overall error rate was similar in 2008, officials attributed the $26 billion jump to some changes in how to define improper spending as well as an increase in overall spending due to the recession.
I realize one big caveat of this Administration is the tons of savings that come from eliminating waste and fraud from these programs. As always I must ask, if we can save so much money by eliminating this waste and fraud why don't we just eliminate the waste and fraud FIRST? It is ridiculous that the government wants us to believe that they, who have never run a fiscally sound program or entity, will do a better job with healthcare for an entire country.......

The Economy: the Money Pit of this decade.

In what can only be presumed as a move to further endear themselves to people who don't know any better, Senate Democrats are looking to spend even more money, that we don't have, yet another program, that we don't need. In a bill sponsored by Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.) they would give unemployment compensation to employees who accept a reduced work schedule in order to avoid layoffs or so the company can hire more employees.
“Work share programs provide businesses with the flexibility to reduce hours instead of cutting jobs,” Reed said in a statement. “This plan will help prevent layoffs, make businesses more productive, and save taxpayers money by keeping people on payrolls and off unemployment benefits."
Subsidizing people who are working reduced hours, but working none-the-less? The Democrats are making this economy "The Money Pit" of this decade. Money for healthcare, money for Cap and Trade, money for extended unemployment benefits, money for companies, money for foreclosures-when does it end? If we are going to subsidize people who are working reduced hours, how long until we subsidize those who aren't making a standard of wage? If we subsidize workers in this way, what is the motivation for the company to get workers back to work full-time? Will the companies have to pay back this money once they are back up to full speed later down the line-or-is the American Taxpayer once again on the line for paying for it and making sure that others get their "fair share." Once again we see lawmakers that are throwing money at the symptom, which does nothing to relieve the actual disease.

Why don't they see that the way to increase people's hours and wages is by implementing programs that create jobs? Subsidizing every aspect of our economy is not only a flawed and impossible plan, it's not good for the future of our country.

If you allow Santa, you might bring out the Nazi's

When did it become acceptable to discriminate against people for their religion? How did we let PC go so far that it is reasonable have a full on assault against anything Christian in this country, but calling a radical Muslim terrorist what he is, is avoided at all costs? How did non-discrimination, freedom and acceptance get twisted into the white-washing and de-Christianizing of every major holiday? I thought equal, meant including everyone-not the exclusion of everyone-but a few......

In Chelmsford MA they have taken the "holiday" out of the Holiday Store at Byam Elementary School. While these rules have been in place for some years, a couple of the parents are asking that holiday themed items be allowed back in to the store for children who wish to buy them.

Superintendent Donald Yeoman told The Sun on Tuesday that the rules for the gift shop are under the authority of Byam Principal Jane Gilmore. Ultimately, said Yeoman, the policy for the gift shop was set so no child would feel left out.
It is unbelievably sad to me that we have come so far in this country, that the way to not leave out children, is to leave out most of the children. As I have pointed out before, we are going down a dangerous path in this country where we sacrifice the many for the few on the alter of political correctness. There is no justifying this way of making all children feel included-yet excluding 80% of them.

I am not offended that my Jewish friends celebrate Hanukkah. I do not feel left out when I drive by a mosque. There is no anger in my heart when I see a Cinco de Mayo celebration. Why, if we are going to preach acceptance and tolerance, do we not practice it for all religions and traditions? How is it that a cross can be submerged in a jar of urine and called art-and allowed to stand no matter how offensive-but a child cannot buy a holiday candle and give it to her mother for Christmas?

What parent in that room can reasonably think that allowing Santa in a holiday store will then cause someone to break out a swastika? Only an idiot, that's who.

Shut up Dede

Our favorite Democrat is back in the news, claiming she knows what is best for the Republican party. In a move to keep herself relevant in an arena where she is not, Dede Scozzafava went on Rachel Maddow's show to remind us all why we couldn't stand her in the first place.

Dede Scozzafava, the Republican congressional nominee who dropped out of New York’s special election last week to endorse Democrat Bill Owens, said Wednesday night that the GOP is “really not based on any sort of substance.”

Speaking with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, Scozzafava warned Republicans that “you have ideology that’s really not based on any sort of substance that can move an agenda forward, that can really help people in this country.”

“I don’t think it’s good for the health of our party. Any party that just tries to purge members that might have any sort of independent thinking, I think, eventually will run itself to very much of a minority status,” she continued. “I think any sort of party has to be willing to solve the problems. And in order to solve problems, you have to look at things sometimes differently. And you do have to drive towards some sort of consensus building.”

Yes Dede, we do need to drive to some sort of consensus and the consensus is you are decidedly not Republican. When you are for abortion, big taxes, big government, and the bailouts, to name a few, you do not hold the principles and values that this party holds dear. If you cannot meet just a minimum of standards we have no use for you. The fact that you finish making your point by referring to Doug Hoffman as the opponent, as opposed to the actual opponent-Bill Owens WHO IS THE DEMOCRAT-only further solidifies that the conservative movement against you was the right one.

Lowering the cost of Healthcare will cost $289 Billion

As we have been saying all along........there is nothing in the House proposed healthcare bill that lowers cost. There are lower payments to doctors and hospitals through Medicare and Medicaid reductions. There are higher taxes, fines, penalties and unfunded mandates. There are provisions for jail time for those that will not buy. There are loan forgiveness programs for Veterinarians. There are all kinds of things crammed in this pretend reform, but not one single thing lowers cost. I've said it before, but I just have to say it again-PAYING OUT LESS DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE LOWERED COSTS.
However, the CMS analysis clearly states that the House bill falls short in attaining a key goal of the Democrats' effort to reform the nation's healthcare system: "With the exception of the proposed reduction in Medicare... the provisions of H.R. 3962 would not have a significant impact on future healthcare cost growth rates."
We can read and reason Mr. President, can you?

Mr. President, reality is on the phone

Despite ratings that continue to tank, President Obama seems to have no desire greater than pursuing his own agenda. Over the last 11 months he has relentlessly pushed policy and programs that, with every passing day, are less and less important to the American people.

Mr. Obama's approval among likely voters has dropped to the low-50s in most polls, and the most recent Rasmussen Reports poll of likely voters shows him slightly below the 50% mark. This is a relatively low rating for new presidents.

A look at more detailed data shows why Mr. Obama's ratings are likely to drop even further.

A CNN poll released Nov. 6 found that 47% of Americans believe the top issue facing the country is the economy, while only 17% say its health care. However, the bulk of the president's efforts over the past six months have been not on the economy but on health care, an issue in which he continues to draw negative ratings.

In a Rasmussen Reports poll taken after the House of Representatives passed health-care reform by the narrowest of margins last Saturday night, 54% of likely voters say they are opposed to the plan with only 45% in favor. Furthermore, in the all-important category of unaffiliated voters, 58% oppose the bill. That's one of the reasons why so many moderate Democratic House members opposed it.

The CNN poll also shows that in addition to health care, a majority of Americans disapprove of how Mr. Obama is handling the economy, Afghanistan, Iraq, unemployment, illegal immigration and the federal budget deficit. Put simply, there isn't a critical problem facing the country on which the president has positive ratings.
It is not at all uncommon for the people to disagree with legislators on the direction to take the country on some specific issues. However, it would seem that if you are in direct opposition to the majority of the American people on nearly every major policy issue, one might stop and take notice. One might act as though they have a shred of insight into one thing the American people feel is important.
