Face Punch Wednesday

(If you are new to Face Punch Wednesday, please read this post before you complain-I don't want to hear it.)

People I Want to Punch in the Face

"I didn't say that......Uuuhhhh, there is video tape now?" Hey guess what lady, there is already a sitting Supreme Court Justice with a "compelling personal story". Oh wait, right, I forgot, it doesn't count if you aren't a liberal. Identity politics is only for the stupid anyway; those unable to think and form an opinion of their own. Why would we pick people solely based on the content of their character and validity of their experience-when gender or ethnicity are easy to spot. 7 punches

"What do you mean these glasses aren't fashionable?" Look I can't really blame you for pushing this Administration around. I mean really, what are you going to get but a stern talking to and maybe a time-out to think about what you've done. Still, the last thing we need is YOU with nukes-so put away your toys and go find something else to occupy your time. 10 punches

"Awww, did I say that?" (Yes, said like Erkle) If all rooftops and roads in the world were made white it could combat global warming.........It has also been decided if we all wear pink underwear kittens will live forever. First, global warming is a farce. Two, Shut. Up. 10 punches

Application? DENIED

Today the Senate passed their over-regulation, over-bloated, big government bill to curtail credit card companies from "unfair" lending practices.

There is no doubt, credit card companies have used their ability to lend to less credit worthy folks as a profit center. They have preyed on borrowers who can't keep their accounts current or that are less desirable debtors. They raise rates and charge fees at the drop of a hat, for any excuse.

On the surface this might seem like a good idea-get the big bad credit card company. It's important to understand a few things though. First, if a borrower is too intelligence impaired to know how to work a credit card, that is not the fault of the general population. Next, thanks to the folks who do pay their accounts properly and do understand how to read and do math above a high school level, the other 95% of borrowers have been allowed to have credit cards at all.

Now, not only will fewer people get credit, but those who do will no longer enjoy benefits like no annual fee, or lower rates. Thanks to these ridiculous rules and regulations small business can kiss affordable credit good-bye. Once again this administration proves in order to save the "few", the "most" must be sacrificed.

Huge Power Grab from Homeschoolers' Rights in MO-SB291

My regular visitors know, I really don't talk about family things much around here. I mostly just rant and rave about all things political so I don't actually run around punching people in the face :) However, today it has come to my attention there is a last minute move in our State Legislature to further erode not only Homeschoolers Rights, but Parental Rights, in my state of Missouri. I cannot idly sit by and not help these folks out. I am a parent, so I fully support Parents Rights over States Rights and I fully support those who homeschool. I often say of I had it to do all over (mine are almost done now at 16 & 17) I might opt for homeschooling instead-especially as I look back and some of the things I have endured at the hands of other parents of public school kids-but anyway I digress. This is not about me this is about all parents.
"From our homeschool lobbyist:
Senate Bill 291 modifies the language in 167.031.6 to extend compulsory attendance indefinitely, based on an unidentified standard of 16 high school credits before a student is released from the compulsory attendance statute. This means, home educators would have to prove their student had 16 acceptable credits before considering their mandatory education complete. While this MAY occur at an age younger than 16, it could also extend to 18 or even 20 if the un-named authority did not accept the credits of the home school. And again, just who assess the validity fo those 16 credits is not defined in the bill."
My friend Dana has all the info you need. Call our legislature and tell them to banish this ridiculous and vague language giving our already poor educational bureaucracy even more mandate power over those who out perform public school kids in every arena.

Good luck you guys-MY call is already in!

Oh What a Surprise

Yesterday the Administration announced yet another condition for financial institutions wanting to repay TARP funds-even instituions which were made to take those funds against their will.
"Banks hoping to repay the money they received from the Troubled Asset Relief program will have to show that they can issue debt without a backstop from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. The backstop has allowed financial institutions to issue debt with almost no real risk to investors, since a U.S. government backstop is basically as sure a guarantee as exists in the market.

“Banks that want to repay their TARP money must demonstrate that they can issue debt without the FDIC's guarantees, as part of seeking permission from their regulator to pay back the government's capital injection,” a senior Administration official told FOX Business.

This requirement creates an extra hurdle for institutions hoping to rid themselves of the TARP money -- as well as the strictures on executive pay and other things that come with the money."

It never ceases to amaze me how this administration continually changes the rules so obviously and blantantly in the governments favor to prevent financial institutions from paying the money back. These institutions should have never gotten in bed with such a dirty whore as the federal governement. Next, they will require the bank executives have the ability to fly before they can repay the money. When does it become illegal to ignore rules and laws while continually reaching back to the future to get your radical agenda in place?

Forget "Atlas Shrugged", How About "Anthem"?

Have you ever read Anthem? You might want to.
And so it begins........

Every day Obamas' moves to grow government, all the while completely and fully running all aspects of private life, become more blatant and bold. First, we have the GIVE Act (PDF), which is just a new way of indoctrinating our youth and creating a Nazi Youth Camp-like "volunteer" corp.
"But the bill's opponents -- and there are only a few in Congress -- say it could cram ideology down the throats of young "volunteers," many of whom could be forced into service since the bill creates a "Congressional Commission on Civic Service."

The commission involved with this Act is also charged with finding a way to make the volunteer service mandatory. Unfortunately, mandatory is completely contrary to voluntary. As we have seen time and time again under this Administration, definitions are irrelevant.

Now, President Obama is calling for Wall Street to become less of a player in the economy. How is one even remotely related to the other? Let's take a look at this quote from Obama:
"That means that more talent, more resources will be going to other sectors of the economy," he said. "I actually think that's healthy. We don't want every single college grad with mathematical aptitude to become a derivatives trader. We want some of them to go into engineering, and we want some of them to be going into computer design."

Does it occur to anyone on capital hill that the GIVE Act will now lead to designated careers for individuals? I see a great potential for abuse through this system and now Obama has made it clear that he wouldn't want the best and brightest minds deciding on their own which career path they might take. The One will now "help" them make that decision. A very scary proposition indeed.

So Again I am Forced to Ask.......

I ran across this post today at American Thinker highlighting FactCheck.org calling out President Obama's claims of job saved or created so far as completely bogus.
"At President Obama’s April 29 news conference, he claimed that the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act has “already saved or created over 150,000 jobs.”

Huh? Wait just a cotton picken minute-aren't thousands of people losing their jobs every month? Are unemployment claims going up or at least holding steady month after month?

Also, I have to strongly agree-how could they possibly know what jobs have been saved or created when there is zero accounting for the funds from the ARRA at this time and barely a spit-pots worth has even been spent yet?

So again I am forced to ask, will anyone call bullshit?

May Day 2010?

Watching the news the other night, I saw several clips showing violent protests by labor unions around the world raging against the economic crisis, along with capitalism, to celebrate May Day. Interesting way to celebrate.

These protests are not so much new news, but what did strike me was A) most of the protesters live under Socialist governments (or quasi-socialist if you prefer) but are protesting capitalism and B) how violent protesters in those countries are portrayed as "voicing their discontent", when here in America a housewife with an opinion will most certainly be labeled a racists, or worse a right wing extremest (PDF).

The irony? These countries have much of what Obama is leading America toward-socialized medicine, unions for every worker guaranteeing wages, government run business, forced equality through taxation and guess what? Those people are less satisfied, more violent, with economies even more deteriorated than ours. I can only hope we are not seeing a vision of the future.
