Yay! More Fun Announcements!

I am pleased to announce I will be attending the Defending the American Dream Summit in Washington D.C this Friday and Saturday as a blogger! It is an excellent opportunity and I am proud to have Americans for Prosperity as a sponsor. I know it will be informative and a great chance for me to score cool interviews for this blog and my new sweet spot as a co-host for the segment "Metal Babe and the Mohawk" on the totally awesome "The Snark Factor" (which I blogged about two days in a row, which is "da bomb" and funny and very smart-so why are you here reading this when you could be here listening!!!)
Keep your eyes peeled over the weekend-I have no doubt I will be doing some live blogging off and on and of course if I score something that CAN'T wait I will probably, put it up ASAP!

Another example of applying to wrong fix to a real issue.

It looks like the President AND his Secretary of Education will mis-state the truth AGAIN to make a point:

Obama and Duncan say kids in the United States need more school because kids in other nations have more school.
"Young people in other countries are going to school 25, 30 percent longer than our students here," Duncan told the AP. "I want to just level the playing field."
While it is true that kids in many other countries have more school days, it's not true they all spend more time in school.
Kids in the U.S. spend more hours in school (1,146 instructional hours per year) than do kids in the Asian countries that persistently outscore the U.S. on math and science tests — Singapore (903), Taiwan (1,050), Japan (1,005) and Hong Kong (1,013). That is despite the fact that Taiwan, Japan and Hong Kong have longer school years (190 to 201 days) than does the U.S. (180 days).
While I agree there are changes that should be made to the American education system-like improving the quality of teachers we are turning out, improving the educational materials used, dumping No Child Left Behind (replacing it with a real program, that actually helps kids) and developing good programs to identify and help kids that are struggling due to educational or social circumstances-all excellent ideas.
Extending the school day? Just another example of applying to wrong fix to a real issue.

Announcement and a compare and contrast for you!

Vlog for 9/25/2009
UPDATE: Face Punch Wednesday is back and down there :)

Face Punch Wednesday is BACK! (now on Friday)

Michael Moore-Capitalism has Failed.........are you f*cking kidding me

He has also proven that his diet has failed. And apparently his shower and any sort of fashion sense are also dead. From someone who lives in Hollywood and makes millions (why I cannot guess) this is an ironic stance to take. Frankly, I couldn’t care less what Michael does, he is irrelevant, but he might want to rethink his message, before he make more dough off the American people. 7 punches.

My Favorite Tiny, Tiny Dictator
Ahmadinejad needs to buy some platform shoes so he will feel better about himself and stop excoriating the rest of the world for his “short comings”. Dude will seriously let his own people be massacred in the street for protesting a rigged election, but cry about American hypocrisy? Just ‘cause we are better at having a country than you doesn’t make us hypocrites. 10 punches

The eCigaret-how ridiculous

These people are only on my list because of this one line: “If you haven't and you're a smoker or even a non-smoker, you're seriously missing out! It looks like a cigarette, feels like a cigarette, tastes like a cigarette, but isn't!”
Because we all know that non-smokers are just looking for a reason to start smoking! I mean thank goodness-now everyone can smoke! Seriously why don’t they just put 5 year olds in there too: “If you haven't and you're a smoker, a 5 year old or even a non-smoker, you're seriously missing out!” 4 punches for a stupid-ass marketing campaign.

SHUUUUUUSH! I can't take it any more.......

YAY! for MORE media (Just like more cowbell on SNL.)

Speaking on ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and Univision, the president spoke on everything from Afghanistan to race, but his main purpose was to continue his campaign-style push convincing Americans why health care reform is necessary this year.

And to that media blitz I'd just like to say-
"Mr. President, we are not stupid, uniformed, deaf, nor did we miss you the first 35 times you tried to cram this down our throats. Please listen carefully-WE GET IT AND WE STILL DON'T LIKE IT!!!!"

Hush yourself. Everyone knows your stance. If you're not going to say something new or different then stop talking.

Please stop bludgeoning the American People with what you perceive to be their own stupidity.

Kids Pimping the Presidents Policies

Once more, our illustrious Administration has decided to bypass parents and schools to push their own agenda and educate the young people in this country as they see fit. This time there will be no speech, but I would venture to guess there will be educational materials. Starting in few weeks the EPA will partner with Boys and Girls Clubs of America and PTO Today to launch a multi-city tour called "Change the World, Start with Energy Star”. The goal? To push the "Green" Agenda-
".....will engage young people in energy efficiency service projects in their communities and encourage Americans to take the Energy Star Pledge to make energy-efficient choices at home, at work and in their communities."
Which sounds so nice...until you consider that this is just another way to push Cap and Trade again. But this time they're going through the youngsters.
"Kids from BGCA in 60 locations are conducting energy check-ups at homes and in their communities and educating their peers and families about energy efficiency."
I guess this means kids will be walking around neighborhoods, knocking on doors pimping the Presidents policies now. How nice.
"As part of the fall campaign, Americans are encouraged to take the Energy Star Pledge, challenging all of us to help fight climate change by making energy-efficient choices at home, at work and in our communities."
Keep in mind, one part of the Energy Star Pledge involves using those totally awesome, mercury filled light-bulbs. The ones you can't just throw in the trash and of you break, expect to spends thousands cleaning up. Definitely better. The rest of the pledge? Oh, it's all about spending money. Buy this, buy that. As a grown adult I am getting sick and tired of being told what to buy and when to buy it by my government. Cash for Clunkers, Healthcare, Cap and Trade, new Credit Rules and Regulations. Ridiculous. Doesn't it seem if we are truly pitching environmental responsibility we would mention things like combining car trips to save fuel, turning off lights in empty rooms, buying items made with recycled materials, not throwing trash out on the roads-you know, things that are actually about caring for the globe.

But, as you know Cap and Trade, and the new "Green" agenda has little to do with anything related to the environment.
"Asked if he expected a town-hall style push back, Dr. Chu said he was optimistic the public would buy the administration’s arguments that energy efficiency and caps on greenhouse-gas emissions will spark an economic rebound."
Ahh, now there's the money shot-Dr. Chu might be shocked to learn that not all of us by his cost savings, job creating B.S. any more than we bought it when Pelosi was trying to sell it. Oops, did he forget to mention how clean the planet will be? No. It won't be any cleaner, we will just be strapped with higher energy bills and the same carbon emissions.

Nearly everyone agrees we should be good stewards of the earth. To this honorable end, many things can be done to keep our world clean. We should be pursuing alternative fuel sources. We should always be looking for ways to care for and clean the earth. However, there is mounting evidence all the time that "Climate Change" is pure bunk. There have been no less than 4 other times in our history the government has pushed some sort of warming or cooling hysteria. Most recent models and data show we are in fact in a cooling period. In addition, if you go back further than 100 years, you know during the time of the dinosaurs, it is well documented the earth was much warmer than it is today. Blame dinosaurs passing gas and cavemen driving around in SUV's, using aerosol hairspray.

As they say-follow the money. Any plan that does nothing to lower greenhouse gases, but only profit-rapes the American people is not a bill that addresses actually being caretakers of the environment. Cap and Trade only causes prices to rise-which will be passed on to the American people-it absolutely does nothing to lower carbon emissions. If the carbon emissions aren't lowered, how is it an environmental game changer?

Our current Administration has to stop using the bully-pulpit of education to push their agenda on the kids and in the round-about, their parents. A curriculum designed around junk science-bent, then broken to prove a flawed hypothesis-which by design will only drive huge profits to the derivatives market, Wall Street and mega-corporations, is not education. It is simply another way to market Cap and Trade to those too young to defend themselves and hope it gets pushed on parents too busy or unwilling to educate themselves.

The Most Uninformed President Ever?

I am starting to see a trend here...

Obama had no knowledge of Reverend Wright.
He was unfamiliar with William Ares past.
They didn't know what the actual state of the economy was.
Pelosi didn't know about Water boarding, except when she did.
Obama is "unfamiliar" with what is in the House version of the Healthcare Bill.
The Administration didn't know Van Jones was a communist, "Truther".
They didn't know about the planned 9/12 March on Washington.
He doesn't know (or more correctly-doesn't pay attention to or care about)
what is going on with the ACORN expose' and the subsequent investigation.

I have no doubt there are hundreds of other examples that might be used here, but the point is this: When this Administration or anyone in it gets caught in a situation that is not comfortable or won't fly with the American public, they apparently go stupid and forget everything prior to the previous 5 minutes. Or they weren't there that day. Or they never had that conversation.

Please stop treating the entire population as though we are dumb. If you are so blind as to not see anything going on around you or so arrogant to think that we believe it , then I have no use for you. If you are really so clueless, you are incapable of performing your duty.

If another attack occurs on this country, even many on the left would not forgive you for never having heard that or not being there that day.

Careful Rachel, your hypocracy is showing......

Oh look, Rachel Maddow and whatever tool she's talking to thinks it's dangerous and racist to call the President a Nazi. Hmmmmm......that's weird:

A Quick Quincy 9/12 Event Wrap

Americana. The true spirit of the heartland. Cookies decorated with the flag.
I don't know whats going on, but those crazy red-neck, racist, right-wing, domestic terrorists might want to take it down a notch. Flag cookies are just too much.

Quincy Tea Party threw quite a shin-dig this weekend and I was honored to attend wearing my media hat. I livestreamed the event (as usual) for the first 2 1/2 hours. I would have done the whole thing but we had to leave early due to a prior commitment. (BTW, THANKS to the entire Quincy crew! You guys did such and awesome job of welcoming us and taking care of us while we were there. It was a fantastic experience. Quincy Dave, Chip and all the rest of the folks who got us what, where and when we needed to be-I thank you from the bottom of my heart. THANK YOU!)

3,000 patriots joined together, standing up to big government and big spending. Every speech held some gem in moving forward. Every speaker inspired us to keep trooping, never give up and to continue to make a difference.
We are told the MSM is dead and it is because of people like us that it is happening.
We are told this is a new revolution and revolutions can't be won alone.
We are told passion for our country and fellow man are not racist, even when we disagree with the President.
We are told that sitting down and shutting up are no longer an option. We must stick together to beat this thing.......and then the next thing......and then the next. They will never give up, so neither can we.
We have to fight for our small businesses.
We have to fight for our children.
We have to fight for our future.
We have to fight so we don't drown in debt and enslave future generations to government.
We have to fight until we can't fight any more. Then we have to get up and fight again.
They are relentless.
But we are strong. And bullheaded. Oh....so bullheaded.

We will stand with our friends and our neighbors.
We will not be afraid.

If the President will call out the liars, then so will we.
We will not back down.

I could never have imagined this last November when I participated in my first round of protesting against the government-as a Project Servant Leader of an online RINO campaign.
I could have never imagined standing with 1,500 on a cold, gray February day.
.......or 10,000 on an April night.
.......or 5,000 on a steamy July 4th afternoon.
We are seeing the fruits of our labors. This is why we continue to come out. This is why our numbers grow.
Obamacare has not passed.
Van Jones, forced out two-weeks ago.
ACORN, fired from the Census last week, exposed for the whore-mongering liars and cheats that they are.
The MSM is irrelevant because they have made themselves that way. They turn a blind eye and a willfully apathetic heart to the corruption and outright abuses that are happening all around us. We don't need them any more. We have each other and we are powerful together.

We have just started. We are many and we are not afraid.

Liveblog of Presidential Speech on Healthcare

Getting all set for the liveblog of the Presidential Address on Health Care.

7:10 They are all crowding through the door right now :) Make room people-they gotta get thru.

7:15 All the chicks are wearing red. What's up with that? It looks good, but it is kind of strange to see.

7:20 Having a little pre-game talk amongst ourselves.
Tort Reform? How will this be paid for? how do you jam however many millions more into a system without additional money?

7:20 Bill Clinton spoke without notes? Not only is that balls-y, but was it smart? We can be sure this Pres will have notes.

7:22 Is the Pres using too much political capital on HC reform? Likely he is. There is a good chance it will be damaging no matter which way he goes.

7:25 Goes into the how bad things were last time he spoke. States full recovery many months away. What was the hurry with the stimulus then? Just sayin'.

7:26 States we have pulled economy back from the brink? Err, not so much. Still losing jobs, still can't get credit, still having foreclosures....back from the brink? Unemployment highest in 26 years.

7:28 Keeps throwing out the strawman, there are soooo many folks one illness away from losing everything. This is just not the case. There are some, but not the crisis he makes it out to be.

7:29 We are the only developed nation without nationalized HC because it is NOT a good system. France (going bankrupt, check) Canada (Long waits and rationing, check) Britain (denying cancer drugs and treatment, check)

7:30 He is going to lay out two or three sad stories for us now. This is the exception, not the rule. Stop with the B.S.

7:31 Mis-states another HC statistic again. We have a much better track record for survivability.
7:32 Has he seen the fines Congress is proposing right now?

7:32 Our HC problem is NOT our deficit problem. To state otherwise is FALSE.

7:32 States "Build on what works and fix what doesn't." I couldn't agree more, the problem is we can't agree on what is actually broken.

7:35 Sites both ends of the political spectrum as making too great a change. Agreed.

7:35 States we don't need a complete take over of the system. I hope he is not proposing the "trigger" option. Trigger is not better.

7:35 Townhalls using scare tactics? Screw you. We've had no time for debate. Pelosi wanted to jam this thing thru with no talking. We expressed our opinion, that is all.

7:37 Nothing changes the coverage-(until they put everyone else out of business.)

7:38 Can't deny for pre-existing condition and that is ok-but remember you pay more for car insurance if you have wrecks.

7:39 How is he paying for all of this?
We will take off coverage caps? And how do we do this while containing costs? We will lift caps so insurers have to pay thru the nose, but then penalize them for their salaries and profits. Really. That's an interesting position to take.

7:41 Time to give every American every opportunity. (Then leave us alone and let us manage our own care.)

7:43 He believes we all agree with what he has thus far outlined. Hmm, I don't remember that phone call.
Oh there it is-the "misinformation" plug. That's us, just spreading lies.
"Abortion will not be covered." Abortion MUST be specifically not covered or it is. Check with your own Supreme Court.
No Death Panels? Well, that ain't workin' out so well in EVERY OTHER COUNTRY that has this.
7:50 The Not-for-Profit will be totally government funded and will never go out of business.
Survives on premiums and never eats up government money. (Like the Post Office? They just keep throwing money at it to keep it alive regardless of profitability.)

7:52 He wants to address legitimate concerns? That would be great. The problem is *he* decides what is a legitimate concern.

7:53 The money shot-how do we pay? He won't sign if there is one dime added to the deficit? Excellent-but what will we sacrifice to make it deficit neutral?

7:57 Spreading "lies and mis-information" That's right....again we are spreading scary stories of things that are actually happening in other countries that do this. I wish my President would stop calling me a lia on national T.V.
Going to charge Insurance companies for their best policies? (That cost will be passed on to consumers.)

8:02 Open to discussion? This plan incorporates little from the conservatives. He arbitrarily decides what is worth discussing.

8:03 So he will call us out if we have actually read the bills and have opinions about it.
Annnd there is the Kennedy card. Let Ted Kennedy rest would ya'. Leave him in peace.

8:05 Healthcare IS NOT a moral issue.
The unique thing about America is our self-reliance-which is NOT what is being proposed for HC.

8:06 This from a man who's own campaign/organizing arm called us domestic terrorists and compared us to Bin Ladens family members on 9/11 organizing emails because we expressed dissent.

So to wrap it up-
Shut up, sit down, the government knows what they are doing. They will decide what is best, then you will take it. You will pay for it. You will die from it. That's all."

Say a Prayer for Jayden

(UPDATE: I was honored to be asked to do a more full length post on this subject for another site, which you can read here if you so desire.)

I want you to say a prayer for Jaden this morning. Who is Jayden you ask? He is the son of Sarah Capewell, a mother in Britain who's baby boy was born too early. In fact, had he been born just two days later, doctors would have given him the care he deserved. Instead, based on statistics and numbers, Sarah was told that Jayden's life was not worth saving. The doctors did not care his tiny heart was beating strong or that he was able to breathe on his own; it didn't matter, because a board somewhere who had never met Sarah or Jayden, decided that her baby was not worth saving, nor could the costs be justified in their public medical system. Jayden is a beautiful baby boy and his mother loved him so.

I know his mother loved him...I also know the torture and horror and hope she had. I know EXACTLY how she felt the second her son was born. I know the screams and begging in her head as she wondered his fate over the first few hours of his life. But, there is a part of her story I don't know; I don't know what it would have felt like to have to doctors refuse my child care.

This is my daughter. She was born at 22.5 weeks. She weighed 1 pound 3 ounces.

Her eyes were still fused shut; she was like a puppy. She opened them more than two weeks after she was born. Thankfully the wonderful nurses documented it for me. It figures, she has always been hard to get along with! She just couldn't open her eyes while I was there, but during one of the few times I went home to steal a nap. I will never forget sitting there for 15-18 hours every single day....just willing her to live with my mind.

This was the first day I held her January 1, 1992, almost two months after her birth. The doctor told the nurses he thought I might be ready to jump off the roof-top if I didn't get to hold her, even just for a few minutes. I had seen so many other mothers come through the NICU at that time. Their babies were a little bigger, a little stronger-they could hold and rock their tiny, tiny babies....I could only stick my hand through a portal and touch her hand or foot. It was the most tortuous time in my life.

Kelsey was strong and oh so bullheaded.

I always knew she would live-even though they told me she likely wouldn't make it three days.

She had few physical problems-even though they repeatedly told me she would be mentally retarded or have Cerebral Palsy; she would never live on her own or care for herself.

She was so tiny.

She finally went home the very day before she should have been born-March 3, 1992, weighing in at a hefty 4 pounds. She brought with her a warming light and a heart/breathing monitor-I told them no worries, she wouldn't need them-I had become thoroughly schooled and practiced at constantly monitoring her every everything. I took the tools and I used them, but I knew when she was struggling or faltering sooner than any monitor could. I kept her with me all the time.
Even now, I know her that way. I know when she is getting sick, before she complains of it. I know every scar on her body. I know which monitors gave them to her. I remember the day they pulled off most of the skin from her left side removing a monitor from her tissue-paper skin.

Four months in the hospital. Four months everyday back and forth. Cat-napping in the NICU sitting room. Four months of sleeping so lightly at home, waiting for the dreaded call, "She's not doing well, her numbers are falling and we have the oxygen at 100%. You should probably get back up here." which came 3 times during her stay.

All of that was almost 18 years ago. Kelsey will graduate high school this year. She has been the bane of my existence and the light of my life. She is bull-headed and strong willed and one of the two most beautiful young women I know. She is firm in her beliefs. She is absolute in her determination. She is my daughter and I can't imagine a life without her in it.

You cannot legislate and bureaucratize health care without making unfathomable choices. You can't make decisions about who to save and who to let pass based off of facts and figures. When Kelsey was born she was one of 5 (at that time) born at that hospital, that soon, who lived. She was the only one of the 5 with no significant medical problems. She beat the odds and the statistics.

She is a person who deserved a fighting chance just like anyone else.

In Britain they have guidelines:

Experts on medical ethics advised doctors not to resuscitate babies born before 23 weeks in the womb, stating that it was not in the child's 'best interests'.
The guidelines said: 'If gestational age is certain and less than 23+0 (i.e at 22 weeks) it would be considered in the best interests of the baby, and standard practice, for resuscitation not to be carried out.'
Medical intervention would be given for a child born between 22 and 23 weeks only if the parents requested it and only after discussion about likely outcomes.
The rules were endorsed by the British Association of Perinatal Medicine and are
followed by NHS hospitals.

In Britain, 18 years ago, they would have let my daughter die.

Hey John Harwood-Kiss My Ass

I have about had it with this Administration and the people who want to raise them up on high. As a parent, I am the arbiter of what my children see and hear, as is every other parent in this country.

Not only did the Secretary of Education say parents with concerns were "silly"

To which (as I'm sure you know) I more or less responded with "Err, whatever. They just can't stop calling us names can they."

Now the mainstream media joined in the name-calling fun and are so sad President Obama (who is on T.V. every other day) just can't get a word in edge-wise on anything. It is certainly clear that the MSM isn't carrying his water for him; everyone is sooo unfair. Oh and it's all Bush's fault.

The kicker so far today? John Harwood seems to feel he is more qualified to raise the children of parents who object to the Obama speech than those parents are. Those parents aren't smart enough....oh and are also racist.

JOHN HARWOOD: In this case you've got a lot of people who are truly agitated about [the president's school speech] and I think partly that's the polarization continuing over time. And partly it's simply because Barack Obama is a different kind of president: first African-American, international elements of his background. But I gotta tell you, Amy [Robach], as somebody who's covered Washington for a long time, this is one of the most ridiculous controversies I've ever seen. So far as I can tell, the biggest danger to kids in this whole thing is that a lot of the parents complaining aren't smart enough to raise them very effectively. Because if you think that a president coming into your school, kids school, and saying work hard and stay in school is a danger to kids, you've got some problems.

Lest we forget the controversy surrounding President Bush 41 speaking to school kids in 1991. You remember, Dick Gebhart threw a complete bitch-fit and members of the legislature demanded to know what funds were used to pay for that speech. What a bunch of idiots those guys were. Why do they continue to let the truly stupid have kids? /snark

So John Harwood, listen very closely, you elitist pig-(It's my turn at name calling)
I do NOT care what color the President is. YOU, my friend are the clear and unabashed racists because you cannot stop talking about race.
Also, I am clearly of more intelligence than you. I care about what my kids are doing and seeing and are exposed to. Unlike you, (apparently) I do not take everything said to me at face value. I research information when I can find it. I vet it for what the truth is and when it sounds "fishy" then it probably is. The speech was never the issue for most parents, (mainly because you couldn't find the text of the speech anywhere when it was first announced) it was the clearly adoring and subservient message of the original follow up assignments that were released.

I wonder how you would have felt if your kids had been asked to do participate in those same assignments on President(s) Bush?

Hey John Harwood-KISS MY ASS.

Death Panels? I Wish.

Un-frickin'-believable. There are so many disturbing things contained within the "chat" between Gail Collins and David Brooks, I just don't know where to start.

Gail starts out with the complete falsehood that the current system is a disaster.

Right now the question is health care reform, and even though our current system
is a terrible mess, the easiest thing to do is nothing.
Look people, I know there are issues. I know we need to fix some stuff, but this continuous claim of "terrible mess" is just FALSE and I'm sick to death of hearing it. When 90% of folks are insured and of them 84% are very satisfied with their cover-a crisis that does not make.

Gail then goes on to blame Republicans for the current state of negotiations on the health care debate.

That’s particularly true since we’re talking about Congress here. The question is not whether Obama will get an imperfect, compromised bill or a clean, tidy one. It’s whether he gets any bill at all.

In part that’s because the Republicans have been both totally useless and extremely canny. They’ve been demanding that the Democrats negotiate, and then wrecking the negotiations. They scare people about the potential cost, and then screech about “rationing.” If the Democrats try to make sure no one loses anything under reform, the Republicans say they’re bankrupting the country. If they try to put in some cost constraints, the Republicans tell senior citizens that they’re not going to get hip replacements. Or blood transfusions. Or flu shots.

It's so funny to me Democrats continue to go down this road. I hate to break the news to her, but at this point I think the only people who believe what the MSM says, are other members of MSM.......oh and President Obama. Republicans have offered several alternatives to the current plan-here (PDF) and here (PDF) are just a start. In addition, it is not scare tactics to tell people if this behemoth passes there will be rationing and in fact David Brooks is for Death Panels. QUOTE:
Some Republicans say the Democratic bills would create death panels. I wish. I’m pro-death panel. We spend so much money on end of life care we have to have some
way of talking about it.
Dr. Emanuel and David Brooks admit they are for curbing end-of-life care. These are not witch hunt statements or statements I pulled out of thin air-they say these things right to your face. They do not deny they believe in government panels (who are not you or your doctor) should arbitrarily decide appropriate treatments for all conditions and diseases based on age and costs, with no other consideration. It also means if you are of a certain age in the UK, your death will be harried along by withholding food and water-even when you might be getting better.

Gail finishes with some crazy, lunatic notion the democratic process, established by our founders, is a silly waste of time:
Personally, I think the only things that should require 60 votes are the ones that can’t be repealed, rolled back or modified later — like Supreme Court nominees. But the bottom line is that if the Senate Republicans are not seriously negotiating in good faith, it’s crazy to say they deserve a veto.
Can you hear the screaming and head explosions if a Republican had made such an assinine statement? If this isn't lunatic fringe speak, I wouldn't know what is. Frankly, this just makes her sound drunk with the power of a Democrat majority.

Alas, she laments if Democrats use reconciliation and get this crap pushed through, they will be forever blamed whenever anything goes wrong. Um, yes actually, they will be blamed, as they should be if they push for something the majority of the American people do not want in it's current form.

I do worry that the Democrats will somehow screw this reconciliation thing up. And also that if health care passes, it will hurt Obama — not because the public resents the fact that he pushed it through with only Democratic votes, but because change is scary. Some people will have to do things they don’t want to do. Young people will have to pay for health insurance policies and a lot of businesses will have to provide new employee benefits. Also, I’m sure that if reform passes, all the 12 billion things that go wrong in our current health care system every day would in the future be blamed on the Democratic party.

Oh please, cry me a river. This, from someone who supports an administration crying about the mess they were left with nearly everyday on national T.V. Democrats should be blamed when costs continue to rise, illegals get coverage but don't pay in, federal funds pay for abortions and our entire economy goes into the tank under the burden of private insurers being run out out of business because of the public option and the strain on our system.

David Brooks might be in favor of death panels, but he does think the lowly American Voter deserves at least the slightest consideration in making decisions for the country.
The public isn’t always right, but the majority views are at least worth taking seriously. Especially if you want to win elections.
Oh how generous of Mr. Brooks. I mean really, since this is a Republic it is kind and thoughtful of him to let the "great unwashed" have an opinion and maybe a say so in how the elite electorate drive us off in to a ditch.

al Megrahi for Oil?

Who trades prisioners for oil? Britian.

Still, there have since been allegations that the British government pushed hard for al Megrahi's release because it wanted to appease Libya, which wanted al Megrahi to return home.

The Sunday Times newspaper alleged last week that Britain wanted al Megrahi to at least be eligible for the prisoner transfer agreement in order to clear the way for a deal allowing BP to drill for oil in Libya.

British and Scottish officials have denied that, and this week, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown took time out from a scheduled event to squash the allegation.

"I made it clear that for us, there was never a linkage between any other issue and the Scottish government's own decision about Megrahi's future," Brown said. "On our part, there was no conspiracy, no cover-up, no double-dealing, no deal on oil, no attempt to instruct Scottish ministers, no private assurances by me to (Moammar) Gadhafi."

Scotland fought hard to keep al Megrahi out of the prisoner transfer agreement, according to declassified government documents released this week.

The documents show Straw first assured Scotland he would tell the Libyans that Britain would not agree to any prisoner transfer treaty unless al Megrahi was specifically excluded. But only three months later, he told Edinburgh he was giving up efforts to keep al Megrahi out of the deal "in view of the overwhelming interests for the United Kingdom."

Gadhafi's son Saif al-Islam Gadhafi told CNN that initially, Britain refused to heed to Libya's demands that al Megrahi be included in the prisoner release agreement.

"There was no mention of Mr. Megrahi until the British said, 'we are ready to sign but there should be a clause mentioning that Mr. Megrahi is excluded.' And then we said no," Gadhafi said. "We were very very angry. It's not acceptable."

The agreement was eventually signed and days later, Libya approved a huge oil exploration contract with BP.

Oh I know, Gordon Brown denies it, but there is no way this was not a strong factor in Britian now being able to drill for that sweet, sweet oil in Libya. That's the fun thing about being countries-Britian didn't have to negitiate al Megrahi release-they just had Scotland do it.

Absolutely Outrageous and Unforgivable

I have never in all my life seen ANYTHING more disgusting done by a union (hat tip Michelle Malkin)

Organized Labor Recruits In-Home Caregivers

Kathy Keith has cared for a son with Down syndrome for 23 years and never dreamed that one day organized labor would consider her a prime candidate for a union card.

So she was skeptical when representatives from two of the nation's largest unions began competing for her attention over the last few weeks with unannounced visits to her home, mailings and phone messages promising to fatten her state stipend.

The Bartlett resident is among about 3,000 people who receive state funding to assist someone at home with a developmental disability. As a result of an executive order signed by Gov. Pat Quinn in June that allows collective bargaining by "individual providers of home-based support services," unions are now trying to sign them up in an unusual effort to boost membership.

The move has left some care providers angry and confused. Many are mothers, fathers or close relatives who are caring for loved ones, advocates say.

"Are you saying I can go on strike and not wipe my son's rear end?" Keith said, questioning if union membership would pit her interests against her son's.

Soon, she and others expect to receive ballots by mail that ask them to join the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) or the Service Employees International Union(SEIU). Or they may vote against representation.

An election date has not been scheduled, but union officials say they have met the
requirement for a minimum level of interest and are awaiting state approval.

Caregivers who vote against joining a union or don't vote at all would get to choose whether to become members if SEIU or AFSCME receives the most votes, but even if they decline to join, they will have to pay "fair share" dues, according to union representatives.

Go read the rest of the story if you can stand it.

These unions are disgusting bottom feeders. Everyone else should sacrificed because union leaders can't do what they are paid to do-namely TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN MEMBERS! THAT'S WHY THEY PAY F*CKING PAY DUES!

Oh no, not even the pain pill Grandma.

More good news, along with something to look forward to when the government runs health care for all of us-
From Beverly Gunn at American Thinker:
I was armed with a wad of prescriptions that needed to be filled before we reached home late one Saturday. Since mother's pharmacy was located in a Wal-Mart, I left the scripts with capable pharmacists and shopped awhile. Returning to pick up her medicines the pharmacist called me to come over and discuss the different medications and their uses and required knowledge. Then he paused and said, "Now, I need to tell you that your mother's pain medication will have to be purchased by you, as Medicare will not pay for these, as your mother is too old."
Thinking I heard the man wrong, I asked him, "Did I hear you correctly? Did I hear you say my mother is too old for pain medication following surgery?"
The druggist, smiling, repeated his previous comment, reiterating that Medicare, at least in his district, refuses to pay for pain medication for seniors, even following surgery.
Seriously-go read the whole thing.
So, apparently they won't be giving Grandma the pain pill-whether she has the surgery or not.
WTF?

Rules? We Don't Need No Stinkin' Rules

You know this morning union bosses across the country are dancing around in their tight, white, undershorts:

Word is that the new Labor Secretary Hilda Solis will not enforce regulations promulgated during the Bush Administration that force labor bosses running
unions with more than $250,000 in receipts to abide by strict financial disclosure requirements.

Thank goodness-we wouldn't want those pesky "rules" getting in the way of lavish lifestyles, with no accountability what-so-ever. Interesting this Administration would demand to know every financial nook and cranny of all the other institutions out there-including how much money executives should make-but when it comes to those unions.....well we wouldn't want to bother them with rules and regulations or anything.

From Kevin Mooney at the Washington Examiner:

Before Bush took office, the reports were mostly ignored by the Labor Department. Now, it’s back to business-as-usual. A notice appeared this week on the department’s web site saying the Office of Labor Management Standards (OLMS), whose main job is enforcing LMRDA requirements, won’t be doing its job under Solis:
“Accordingly, OLMS will refrain from initiating enforcement actions against union officers and union employees based solely on the failure to file the report required by section 202 of the Labor-Management and Reporting Disclosure Act (LMRDA), 29 U.S.C. § 432, using the 2007 form, as long as individuals meet their statutorily-required filing obligation in some manner. OLMS will accept either the old Form LM-30or the new one for purposes of this non-enforcement policy.”

Thank goodness for "Hope and Change". Who knows where those poor Unions would be if it weren't for transparency and the doing away with the "same old politics as usual".........

........oh wait.....right.

And Now They Come for the Children

The esteemed leader wishes to speak to your children....with you not there.....surrounded by mostly liberal teachers. He wishes to talk to them about accountability, responsibility and succeeding in school. He will use words like "personal responsibility, goals, persistence"(PDF). Errr weirdly unlike the types of words he normally uses; usually his words mean "take from you and give to someone else."
On September 8th at noon time, President Obama will reach into classrooms across the nation to say whatever he wants, however he wants, to all the impressionable minds that can hear him.

As Michelle Malkin points out, when reading through the post-address information, it is impossible to miss the activist implications.

• As the President speaks, teachers can ask students to write down key ideas or phrases that are important or personally meaningful. Students could use a note-taking graphic organizer such as a Cluster Web, or students could record their thoughts on sticky notes. Younger children can draw pictures and write as appropriate. As students listen to the speech, they could think about the following:
What is the President trying to tell me?
What is the President asking me to do?
What new ideas and actions is the President challenging me
to think about?
• Students can record important parts of the speech where the
President is asking them to do something. Students might think about: What specific job is he asking me to do? Is he asking anything of anyone else? Teachers? Principals? Parents? The American people?
• Students can record any questions they have while he is speaking and then discuss them after the speech. Younger children may need to dictate their questions.

After the Speech:
•Teachers could ask students to share the ideas they recorded, exchange sticky notes or stick notes on a butcher paper poster in the classroom to discuss main ideas from the speech, i.e. citizenship, personal responsibility, civic duty.
•Students could discuss their responses to the following questions:
What do you think the President wants us to do?
Does the speech make you want to do anything?
Are we able to do what President Obama is asking of us?

It is not the Presidents place or responsibility to shape what type or for whom community service or out-reach should be done from our family to others. As a parent I will handle that, thanks. In fact, it is not the responsibility of the President to ask children to do anything.

And people wonder why folks occasionally throw out words like "Fascist" "Communist" and "Socialist"; dude-when you go over the parents heads, to tell the kids whatever you want and then have it reinforced by your minion teachers, people get a little nervous. Didn't Hitler ask kids to turn on their parents if the parents weren't doing just right? Just wondering.....

Ya know what else I wonder? What if Bush had wanted to talk to the kids?
