Shut up Michael Steel

Michael Steele thinks people criticize him, in part, because he is black.

Speaking to Washingtonian magazine (no online version), Steele wondered why his Democratic National Committee counterpart doesn't get the same criticism he does.

"I don’t see stories about the internal operations of the DNC that I see about this operation," Steele said. "Why? Is it because Michael Steele is the chairman, or is it because a black man is chairman?”

No Michael, we criticize you because you are a terrible leader. During your entire run you have flip flopped on the issues, backed the wrong candidates and provided little to no leadership. As the head of the RNC Michael Steele should be a strong voice and ally to candidates, lawmakers and issues that most closely align and represent the core Republican values. He isn't. In many ways the problem with Michael Steele is the problem with the whole of the Republican party right now-we keep having this battle of moving toward the center or expanding our "base". Why some continually push this way of thinking is beyond me.

As the Republicans began moving away from all the things that made them great in the late 80's and early 90's they also lost the support of their most loyal voters-even those from the independent voting bloc. When Republicans became Democrat Lite, they also became the party without a chance in hell of winning consistently.

The problem with Michael Steele is he supports this same vein of more moderate, big tent thinking. He blows with the wind and has very little truly conservative 'cred to stand on. Chairman Steele has made gaffe after gaffe and comes across as someone who is out of touch with what voters like me are looking for in this party. Until you get a clue Michael, I won't support you-and baby, it ain't got nothing to do with color.
