Illegals will now receive Social Security-thanks John McCain.

It's no secret there is no love loss between me and John McCain. I have no use for a Republican that just can't seem to grasp small government, low taxes and boarder security. With Republicans like McCain, what do we need Democrats for? For about 5 minutes he got serious on boarder security when the recently passed Arizona Illegal Immigration Law was first discussed, however, this week he has undone any good will I felt toward him by voting with Democrats to allow illegal immigrants to collect Social Security benefits and obtain Medicare.
"We all know that millions of undocumented immigrants pay Social Security and Medicare taxes for years and sometimes decades while they work to contribute to our economy," said Sen. John McCain, Arizona Republican.

"The Ensign amendment would undermine the work of these people by preventing lawfully present immigrant workers from claiming Social Security benefits that they earned before they were authorized to work in our community," he said. "If this amendment were enacted, the nest egg that these immigrants have worked hard for would be taken from them and their families."

So people who have broken the law for any number of years and taken gainful employment from Americans are now also going to enjoy retirement and health care from a system that is already going broke and will likely not payout to legal citizens who have also paid into it their whole lives.......fucking brilliant.

This is revolting to me. John McCain needs to get his facts straight. If workers are working here legally they will get any and all benefit they pay in, as any citizen would. If they are here illegally and working illegally, they deserve nothing. NOT ONE RED CENT. If they want benefit of being American citizens they need to become American citizens.

  1. This started going around a couple of days ago. The article was written May 18, 2006. I've found information for the yea & nay voters. What I can't find out is the name/number of the bill (SB????) Did President Bush veto this bill? If not, when was it to take effect?

A couple of interesting things I did find:
Altho I don't trust Snopes, this was interesting

  2. 44 Republican Senators and five Democrat Senators voted to block such payouts. 39 Democrat Senators voted along party lines and gave Social Social Benefits to Illegals Aliens. Where is the loyalty of these Democrats (and Republicans), who voted to drain the Social Security System faster?

  3. You're quoting a 2006 Washington Times article.

I still think McCain needs to go away. And the 2006 vote still does show his voting record. But the commentary/blog is wrong on it's premise.
