Al Sharpton supports racism and violence in America.

Because if he didn't he wouldn't allow this stuff at his rally. He would speak out against those that spoke ill of Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin. He would never allow anyone to bring such a hateful message to his rally. His silence means he agrees with it.

Who's the bigoted, violence inciting, race-baiter Al?

Harvard economics professor says it's Obama Administrations fault unemployment so high.

Robert Barro says in today's Wall Street Journal that unemployment would likely be much lower if only this Administration would stop meddling in unemployment benefits. In fact, according to Mr. Barro there is an excellent chance it would be holding at 6.8% instead of the almost 10% it is, if they had just left unemployment insurance at the 26 week limit it has previously had.
To get a rough quantitative estimate of the implications for the unemployment rate, suppose that the expansion of unemployment-insurance coverage to 99 weeks had not occurred and—I assume—the share of long-term unemployment had equaled the peak value of 24.5% observed in July 1983. Then, if the number of unemployed 26 weeks or less in June 2010 had still equaled the observed value of 7.9 million, the total number of unemployed would have been 10.4 million rather than 14.6 million. If the labor force still equaled the observed value (153.7 million), the unemployment rate would have been 6.8% rather than 9.5%.
These figures even hold true when compared to times when the unemployment rate has been higher, but none of this interfering was done. Then, average unemployment was still much less than it is now.

To begin with a historical perspective, in the 1982 recession the peak unemployment rate of 10.8% in November-December 1982 corresponded to a mean duration of unemployment of 17.6 weeks and a share of long-term unemployment (those unemployed more than 26 weeks) of 20.4%. Long-term unemployment peaked later, in July 1983, when the unemployment rate had fallen to 9.4%. At that point, the mean duration of unemployment reached 21.2 weeks and the share of long-term unemployment was 24.5%. These numbers are the highest observed in the post-World War II period until recently. Thus, we can think of previous recessions (including those in 2001, 1990-91 and before 1982) as featuring a mean duration of unemployment of less than 21 weeks and a share of long-term unemployment of less than 25%.

These numbers provide a stark contrast with joblessness today. The peak unemployment rate of 10.1% in October 2009 corresponded to a mean duration of unemployment of 27.2 weeks and a share of long-term unemployment of 36%. The duration of unemployment peaked (thus far) at 35.2 weeks in June 2010, when the share of long-term unemployment in the total reached a remarkable 46.2%. These numbers are way above the ceilings of 21 weeks and 25% share applicable to previous post-World War II recessions. The dramatic expansion of unemployment-insurance eligibility to 99 weeks is almost surely the culprit.

Maybe Obama should fire his economic team and hire guys like this. It is proven his team has no idea what they are doing by the fact that not only is unemployment staying high, but it has only gotten worse the more they have interfered.

Rick Sanchez calls Obama "cotton picking president" ....isn't eviscerated by media.

Now there is absolutely no question in my mind had Glenn Beck or Bill O'Reilly made this mistake people would be calling for their execution right on the air.

Face Punch Wednesday

Roger Ebert-This week in a post on his blog, Chicago Sun-Times film critic Roger Ebert wrote that Glenn Beck is a "zealot" who makes "daily insinuations" that President Obama is a secret Muslim. He also went on to say that Sarah Palin's tweets "are mine fields of coded words; for her, 'patriot' is defined as, 'those who agree with me.' When she says 'Americans,' it is not inclusive." Yes because the progressives are soooo inclusive. Poor Roger has clearly lost his mind, maybe he should go back to giving bad reviews to good movies. For not knowing what field you should actually comment in 5 punches

John Brennan-Brennan caused a stir at the end of May when he told the Center for Strategic and International Studies that we should not describe the terrorists in religious terms. Brennan described violent extremists as victims of "political, economic and social forces,". However this week in a meeting with the Washington Times Editorial Board, John was forced to contradict his contention that Jihad had nothing to with violence, wherin he immediately stormed out of the office pouting like a little bitch. For trying to paint terrorists as victims rather than the evil purveyors of violence that they are 10 punches.

Brian Williams-Appearing on the Late Show on Monday night to plug his Friday night Dateline on the 5th anniversary of Katrina, NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams bizarrely asserted “we're still enjoying the fruits really of the Clinton economy,” claimed Tea Party activists who say “we want our country back” want it back “from the Trilateral Commission” and ridiculed their presumed hypocrisy as he insisted “you see a lot of signs, ‘Federal Government Out of My Social Security,’ ‘Federal Government Out of My Medicare and Medicaid.’ But for the federal government, of course, those programs would not exist.” He then went on to praise how Jimmy Carter had redefined the "post Presidency" into something awesome....maybe because he defined being President as something he was incapable of doing. This is from the same guy who almost made love to President Obama while interviewing him last year. For making things up one more time 10 punches.

Did a Michigan Democrat official notarize "fake" Tea Party Candidates?

The Oakland County Democratic Party has asked for and accepted the resignation of Operations Director Jason Bauer following accusations he knowingly notarized campaign filings for "fake" Tea Party" candidates in order to dilute the Republican vote. This is a very serious accusation and is testament to the effectiveness of Patriot Groups around the country. The Democrats are scared and they are willing to do anything to stop the surge of conservatism and return the the founding principles of this country.

The Oakland County Democratic Party says it has requested and accepted the resignation of operations director Jason Bauer in the wake of accusations he notarized campaign filings for a fake Tea Party candidate.

“We are saddened by this situation, but cannot condone his alleged actions,” the OCDP said Sunday in a released statement. “For the sake of the organization, we must part ways effective immediately.”

Oakland County Clerk Ruth Johnson, a Republican candidate for secretary of state, announced the allegations against Bauer on Friday, noting she had turned over documents to the county prosecutor and Michigan Attorney General’s office for further investigation.

Though the Tea Party has no official leader or "charter", the beliefs and principles of those who believe in Tea Party do invoke a certain image. To have that image and those principles violated by outsiders could prove to be very damaging. Like any brand-whether there is a true "leader" or not-a few hard blows could make all the difference. For this reason Tea Party and all Patriot Groups across the nation must stay vigilant in vetting their members, their leaders and the people who claim to represent them.

Be careful out there folks-November is coming and it's bound to get ugly.

Total housing sales plummet to 42-year low despite rock-bottom rates and perpetual government bailouts.

Total housing sales hit a 42-year low in July. Sales dropped 27%; just one more indicator of a weak and faltering recovery. Interest rates are at a multi-year low, lending standards have been weakened to the point of becoming nearly non-existent, and the government continues to pump cash money into the housing economy like water to a lake. All of these wasteful, big government policies did nothing to stave this flood.

In the largest single monthly drop since 1968, the year such records began to be kept, the U.S. housing market plunged by 27% in July. The nosedive occurred in spite of the fact that mortgage rates are at historic lows.

The news headlines by mainstream media outlets, however, mask the depth of the crisis. Several misleading statements were made by not only the AP and NPR but the National Association of Realtors leading readers to believe that the July crash is merely the worse in 15 years.

Reading beyond the headlines to the second paragraph or beyond will reveal the actual dire picture. Sales of EXISTING homes are the worst in 15 years. But when sales of NEW homes are added to that figure, NAR admits that July is the worst month since 1968.

Combine this, with the recent record high unemployment claims of 500,000, a shaky stock market, slow economic growth and Americans increasingly investing in precious metals, like gold and silver, it is no wonder that Gluskin Sheff economist David Rosenberg said Tuesday The US economy is in a 1930s-style Depression. In a hostile growth/business environment, such as the one fermenting on Capitol Hill, it is of no surprise that no one is spending, no one is buying, no one is hiring-is it? When will the Pelosi/Reid/Obama cabal get that their "pass-it-to-know-what's-in-it" way of governing is what is causing the malaise and general economic discontent of today. Why would I make any major move when the future is so uncertain and their policies are so likely to attack me for being successful?

Well that and all the redistribution of your stuff to others. That's doing it to.

Klassy liberal cussing out a Holocaust Survivor over Ground Zero Mosque. Awesome.

What a klass act that guy is. Obviously he is the one who just doesn't have a clue.

FYI-not Bush's fault when your spending outpaces the TOTAL cost of the Iraq war.

No matter how much the Dems like to refute their responsibility in the ever-growing deficit-always blaming Bush and his ways-sometimes you just can't hide the truth. This week the CBO released a report showing just how little impact the Iraq war has actually had on spending.

Since the Dems love going to the CBO for everything, lets just a take a closer look at that report.

* Obama's stimulus, passed in his first month in office, will cost more than the entire Iraq War -- more than $100 billion (15%) more.

* Just the first two years of Obama's stimulus cost more than the entire cost of the Iraq War under President Bush, or six years of that war.

* Iraq War spending accounted for just 3.2% of all federal spending while it lasted.

* Iraq War spending was not even one quarter of what we spent on Medicare in the same time frame.

* Iraq War spending was not even 15% of the total deficit spending in that time frame. The cumulative deficit, 2003-2010, would have been four-point-something trillion dollars with or without the Iraq War.

* The Iraq War accounts for less than 8% of the federal debt held by the public at the end of 2010 ($9.031 trillion).

* During Bush's Iraq years, 2003-2008, the federal government spent more on education that it did on the Iraq War. (State and local governments spent about ten times more.)

In what can only be described as shocking, to those who have been asleep or under a rock for the last year, it is made clear by this report that the problem is spending by this Administration, not some failure of previous Administrations.

I wonder how they'll relate it to Bush when we flatline.

In a not-at-all-subtle visual, this simpleton on CNN seems to want to blame the coming "double dip" recession on GW Bush.

How will they convolute the letters of the alphabet when this recession goes on for decades because of OBAMA'S policies.....how will they blame Bush then? It is obvious the media just don't get it; almost everyone in America now knows the time for blaming Bush is long gone. Nearly two years into this debacle and we are far worse off as a country than we have been since the 1970's and these folks want to blame Bush. It's really just pathetic and sad.

Why do we keep asking the CBO what they think?

Chalk it up to one more inaccurate prediction by the CBO. This week in the new budget update the CBO claims federal debt would stabilize in 2012 for almost 10-years at a manageable 68% of GDP under current law. The problem? The CBO bases that claim on a sustained 2% real growth starting next year. In the same economy where we are loosing more jobs every month, not fewer and just this week 500,000 claims went in for jobless benefits.

To put it kindly, the CBO's forecast seems "already outdated" after data Thursday showed initial jobless claims hit a nine-month high of 500,000 last week, said American Enterprise Institute economist Kevin Hassett.

Harm Bandholz, chief U.S. economist at UniCredit Research, put it more bluntly: "It's ridiculous."
..........
In the fine print, the CBO noted a higher-than-usual degree of uncertainty surrounding its economic projections. But its forecast for the next several years implies an economy strong enough to withstand fiscal tightening on an unprecedented scale. Both the current spate of weak economic data that point to stalling job growth and historical budget data suggest that the CBO's view is, as Bandholz put it, "hopelessly optimistic."

The CBO sees the TARP-adjusted budget deficit falling from 9.8% of GDP this year to 4.2% in fiscal 2012. Outside of demobilization from war, there was only one other time when fiscal policy tightened even half as much. That was the 5.4% of GDP tightening from 1936 to 1938 that helped extend the decade-long Great Depression.

Regrettably most of the figures coming out of the CBO are wrong. They are overly optimistic and often don't look at the whole economic picture. Until this Administration gets a handle on burdening small business and their lust to demonize businesses that create jobs we will not experience this kind of growth. The debt levels we currently maintain are unsustainable and insurmountable for future generations.

Hardhats of NYC say "Hell NO we won't!" to building Mosque

Many construction workers around New York City have said there is no way they will be helping to construct a Mosque anywhere near Ground Zero. One construction worker created the "Hard Hat Pledge" on his blog and thousands of trade folks are signing up. Not just construction workers either, there are people from the glass industry, steel, insurance, lumber-just about all industries and trades are making the pledge.
A growing number of New York construction workers are vowing not to work on the mosque planned near Ground Zero.

"It's a very touchy thing because they want to do this on sacred ground," said Dave Kaiser, 38, a blaster who is working to rebuild the World Trade Center site.

"I wouldn't work there, especially after I found out about what the imam said about U.S. policy being responsible for 9/11," Kaiser said.
Many of the guys lost family and co-workers on 9/11. They have very strong feelings about building on this site-as many around the country do. The hardhats have committed to building a a beautiful, majestic building if the Imam will move it somewhere else. As the other 70% of the people who oppose building this Mosque at ground zero, it is not about the religion, its about the location.

I cannot understand how this group can claim this is a testament to peace and healing yet they have no concern nor regard for the American people and our feelings about that site.

CNBC is suprised jobless claims hit 500,000 mark.

Surprised?
New U.S. claims for unemployment benefits unexpectedly climbed to a nine-month high last week, yet another setback to the frail economic recovery.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 12,000 to a seasonally adjusted 500,000 in the week ended August 14, the highest since mid-November, the Labor Department said on Thursday.
I'm not.

ICE says, "See no illegals, hear no illegals, there ARE no illegals....."

In what is incontrovertibly the next step in this Administrations policy to allow unfettered access to our borders, ICE is discussing new guidelines calling for a much more restrictive environment for identifying illegal invaders. In what has been a cooperative effort between ICE and properly authorized local officials, if a suspected illegal was identified during a routine traffic stop, that invader could be identified and taken in to custody. According to ICE Chief John Morton, this is to be no more.
ICE's misleadingly-named Office of State and Local Cooperation (OSLC) has announced the next step in the Obama administration's efforts to drastically diminish the scope of immigration law enforcement. According to a draft policy document now being circulated among a limited group of stakeholders, ICE chief John Morton intends to prohibit not only his officers, but also local officers with 287(g) immigration authority, from busting illegal aliens who are discovered as a result of traffic violations.
This change in attitude by ICE is a direct result of agencies such as the ACLU pretending these officers are trumping up charges against innocent illegals for the sole purpose of sending them back. The first issue with that line of thinking is if they are here illegally-they are not innocent. This attitude that all the folks who cross are borders do so only to work in the jobs Americans won't do or to take care of our yards or do our housework is a complete fallacy. Many traffic stops have turned up drug gangs and those individuals involved in human trafficking. Even so, even if it only turned up those who are breaking our laws by coming here, it would be a relief to the system and would help undo the damage that has been done for all these years. The folks in Washington give us all the talk about how they want to secure the borders and not give amnesty to the millions of invaders here now, yet they continue to relax the rules and loosen the border to the point of not having a border, all the while looking for new ways to allow those already here to stay here without retribution.

Will anyone call Harry Reid racist?

Harry Reid has hated illegal babies since 1993. What a racist.

Border Patrol Agents told NOT to patrol the border in Arizona

Sheriff Larry Dever of Cochise County, Arizona told a local reporter this week that border agents have been told not to work on the Mexico/America border because it is too dangerous and may cause an international incident.

This is a clear violation of the Federal governments responsibility to secure our border and protect the citizens that live here. It is unconscionable the upper management of Border Patrol is more concerned with starting an "international incident" than doing their job. For our own government to ignore a border invasion by illegal criminal aliens is a deplorable act against America.

Is China getting ready to target the US militarily?

In a report that was due for release last March, but has just been put out this week, it has become clear China is building up their military far beyond simple defense needs. The intent of this move is to deny the U.S. access to the Western Pacific and destroy American forces that try.

The 2010 report, curiously renamed the "Annual Report on Military and Security Developments Involving the People's Republic of China," speaks of China's program to deny U.S. forces access to regions it considers critical to its security.

"China is fielding an array of conventionally armed ballistic missiles, ground- and air-launched cruise missiles, special operations forces and cyberwarfare capabilities to hold targets at risk throughout the region," the report says. These targets would be American bases and carrier battle groups that might be sent to aid Taiwan.

The 74-page Pentagon report also notes that China is "pursuing a variety of air, sea, undersea, space and counterspace" weapons designed specifically to attack U.S. forces. Primary among them is the Dong Feng 21D carrier-killer ballistic missile that can hit moving and heavily defended American carriers with pinpoint accuracy at distances between 900 and 1,000 miles from China's coasts.

Lest we forget China owns a considerable portion of our debt and we are winding down nearly every aspect of our own defense systems-this is a recipe for disaster if these aggressive moves are left unchecked. While we pass the reins of security from Robert Gates to someone new we must ask ourselves if any of the candidates are going to have the smarts and muscle to defend us and our children from the encroaching threats to this country. With Iran acquiring nuclear capabilities and alQaeda still a very aggressive adversary, we must be ready to defend our country against enemies, old and new.

UPDATED: UAW Bosses tell workers to take 50% paycut, yet they give nothing.

It's hard to imagine standing in front of a bunch of big, burly UAW working class guys and telling them to take it right up the rear-give up 50% of your pay while the Union bosses give up nothing. This weekend the Union leadership called an impromptu meeting with the membership this weekend, trying to sell them a package of getting less pay-all in the name of saving GM. How about irony-Republicans are supposed to be all in bed with big business, yet it is the Democrats and this Administration that are pushing hard for this deal to go through.

The incident once again exposes the immense class divide between workers and union officials, who are working actively with the auto companies to drive down wages and eliminate benefits.

A vote on the changes was originally scheduled for Monday, but was cancelled by the UAW after Sunday’s informational meeting made it clear that opposition was nearly unanimous. The new contract would, among other concessions, cut wages from an average of $29 an hour to $15.50.

General Motors, the UAW, and the state government have been working to sell the plant to JD Norman Industries, which was demanding the nearly 50 percent wage cuts as a condition for the sale. GM and the UAW are now denouncing workers for opposing the destruction of their living standards.

Workers at Local 23 voted 384-22 in May to reject reopening a previous contract, which had guaranteed that wages would remain intact in the event of a sale. GM first announced its intention to sell the plant in 2007, threatening to close it if it did not find a buyer.

While I am no real fan of unions or the sometimes exorbitant wages and benefits they get paid, the fact is the union bosses absurd salaries, unfunded pensions and benefits of yesteryear and the multi-million dollar golf courses are the real problem. Making the worker suffer so the leadership-who do essentially nothing for them-can live the good life is unacceptable. Ironically, many of these folks probably voted Democratic much, if not all, of their lives.

This was a major part of the problem when GM was not allowed to go through regular bankruptcy like any other business out there. Had they done that, GM would have been able to restructure, possibly selling this division off without the union and those folks could have decided to either work for the new company or go somewhere else. Now they have bailed out the union AND GM and they feel they are owed something.

UPDATE: A few VERY important details have been brought to my attention. First off, the meeting held on Sunday was illegal-for a group that gets so much thrill out of their rules and regulations you would think following them would be top priority, but it would seem this is not the case. According to union rules, they are to give 7 days notice for these meetings to be called-they gave three. In addition, the union membership had voted in MAY to not open their contract to this negotiation, yet the leadership went behind their backs and negotiated this deal anyway. Finally, these same people who demand that the membership take a (more acurrate) 70% pay-cut just voted themselves an 8% raise. How divine. I'm pleased to see the leadership taking an interest in what the regular guy is giving up. It's just like how the President can relate to how hard it is for the rest of us to pay our bills.

Nancy Pelosi wants to investigate Harry Reid

Nancy Pelosi wants to know who is funding the people who are against the Mosque in New York City. She wants all this fake controversy to stop because she would like to go back to reading "The Word"
"There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded," she said. "How is this being ginned up that here we are talking about Treasure Island, something we've been working on for decades, something of great interest to our community as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue in New York City."
Yeah, Harry Reid better stop being against the "Fun Park Mosque" right now or Nancy may look into who is funding him. Plus all those 9/11 victims families....y'all must stop ginning up this false sense of horror and violation. I mean seriously, this Mosque is just like Treasure Island.....what's your problem?

BREAKING: Alivin Green indicted on felony pornography charge.

Come from nowhere Democratic candidate Alvin Green, set to face off against South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint this fall in November, has been indicted on felony pornography charges.

A grand jury on Friday indicted U.S. Senate candidate Alvin Greene on two charges, including a a felony charge of showing pornography to a South Carolina college student.

Greene was indicted for disseminating, procuring or promoting obscenity, a felony and a misdemeanor charge of communicating obscene materials to a person without consent.

Survey Says: Leave the economy alone!

In a recent survey of 53 economists done by The Wall Street Journal, the overwhelming majority of them would like the Administration to stop toying around with the economy and feel more stimulus is not needed.
Despite the continued challenging conditions, 30 out of 48 economists who answered the question said the economy didn't need any more fiscal or monetary stimulus. Six economists said more fiscal stimulus was necessary, while five want more monetary stimulus from the Federal Reserve and seven said that the economy could use both.
They also give a rather grim outlook for the future of jobs and hiring. They predict the unemployment rate to stay near 9% for sometime and new jobs added will barely keep pace with the rate of entrants into the market.
On average, they still don't see the unemployment rate dropping below 9% through at least June 2011. They expect the economy to add just 136,000 jobs a month over the next 12 months, down from a forecast of 157,000 in the July survey. At that rate, job creation will barely keep up with new entrants to the labor force.
The recently release jobless report would seem to corroborate this sentiment.

Ed Schultz blames all of the Republicans for Unemployment

According to the most smatttest Ed Schultz the whole of the Republican Party is to blame for the current lack of jobs.
As he began the most recent installment of the "Ed Show" on MSNBC, the host said, "The Republican Party has been on a crusade against the middle class and the poor for the last 30 years. We're now seeing the wreckage of that race to the bottom line culture."

He disgracefully continued, "Today a government report showed weekly jobless claims at a five-month high. 484,000 new unemployment claims were filed in the week ending August 7th. And you know what folks, you can lay this right at the feet, right at the altar of the Republican Party."

Sadly, he wasn't close to done, claiming, "The people you see flooding the streets begging for help, begging for an opportunity are victims of the Republican agenda just to make sure that President Obama fails"
Yes Ed, of course that is what the Republicans want-for all people to be out of work, hungry and dying in the streets. You're an idiot.

It is unbelievable to me that nearly TWO YEARS into this Administration folks continually give an out to these people. When will this be Obama's economy? When will the lack of jobs be a direct result of the policies and decisions this President is making? The fact is this Administration has killed jobs, closing the doors of dealerships unnecessarily across the country and berated job creators until they are no longer confident in their futures then saddling them with mandate after mandate, like healthcare . Toying with policies like Cap and Trade and Card Check, which will only serve to increase the cost of doing business, and threatening to raise the tax rates on the highest earners have cause employers to stop employing. Ed needs to take a better look in the mirror of his own party and stop trying to deflect the true blame here.

Another sad commentary to this whole debacle is the unemployed protesting in the video below. They perpetuate the false idea that it is the governments responsibility to take care of them through eternity. One woman claims that if we can take care of people in other countries we can take care of our own-all the while walking around with a sign proclaiming herself to be a "99er". 99er's are the folks who have had unemployment for 99 weeks-nearly two years. How is this country not taking care of you ma'am when you have lived off the government dole for almost two years? How long should we provide for you? When does it stop being my responsibility to feed and house you? Others in the video claim they feel as if they have been forgotten. Mind you, not because there are no jobs for them, but because their two years of benefits will at some point end. We have become a nation of pathetic whiners, all the while expecting our neighbors to pay our bills when we are unable to help ourselves.

We are reaching the end game in this economy. If people like Ed Schultz and all these "takers" don't get a clue, there will be no one left to take from.

Liberals all confused as to who actually benefited from Bush Tax cuts.

The New York Times and the Huffington Post recently had articles discussing the soon to expire Bush tax cuts. They drone on and on about how the "rich" will benefit from the still low rates of the low and middle class taxes on that portion of their income that qualifies.

Taxpayers with income of more than $1 million for 2011 would still receive on average a tax cut of about $6,300 compared with what they would have paid under rates in effect until 2001, according to the analysis, which was prepared by the Joint Committee on Taxation at the request of the Democratic majority on the House Ways and Means Committee.

That compares, however, with the roughly $100,000 average tax cut that households with more than $1 million in income would receive under current rates.

Filers with taxable income of $500,000 to $1 million would still get on average a tax cut of $6,700 compared with pre-2001 rates, according to the data from the tax analysts. But that compares with roughly $17,500 if the top Bush tax rates were maintained.

In other words, if the tax law is changed (again) the "rich" will see increased taxes, just not by as much. Huh? Of course I have to steal the most excellent point made by the entire article.......

On the other hand, if the "rich" benefit from cuts in those lower brackets, doesn't that mean the Bush tax cuts weren't just for the rich and that lower-income folks benefited from them, too?

Think about it: if these cuts really were just for the rich when they were implemented in 2003, why bother keeping any of them now?
Absolutely delicious. They just can't think that far ahead can they?

I'm pretty convinced most of these people don't even know what they're talking about.

Students told to stop singing at Lincoln Memorial

I've heard some bad signing in my life, but never bad enough to warrant telling Americans to stop showing their patriotism at a patriotic place. Sadly, it was not due to the badness of the singing, but apparently due to the location of the singing.
A group of high school students attending a conservative leadership conference
in Washington, D.C. said they were ordered by a security guard to stop singing the national anthem during a June 25 visit to the Lincoln Memorial.

“They told them to stop singing,” said Evan Gassman, a spokesman for the Young America’s Foundation. “I was taken aback. You wouldn’t expect a display of national patriotism to be censored."

U.S. Park Police confirmed that the students were in violation of federal law and their impromptu performance constituted a demonstration in an area that must remain “completely content neutral.”

“The area they were standing in and singing is an area that is restricted for this type of activity,” said Sgt. David Schlosser. “The United States Park Police is absolutely content-neutral when it comes to any sort of demonstrations in these areas.”
It's just so hard for me to see how singing the National Anthem in America is a problem no matter where it is. To me it seems this is just one more instance of de-Americanizing America. While discussing the issue Sgt. Schlosser felt this would be Lincoln's wish.
“We need to make certain that all other visitors that don’t want to be a part of that or just choose to be tourists are able to do so in the same light that probably President Lincoln wanted – which is completely content neutral,” he said.
I'm thinking if people didn't want to be a part of the National Anthem or just wanted to be tourists could walk away.

There is a chance I'm moving to New Jersey

It is starting to seem like Governor Christie may be the only one who gets it. In a bold move, it looks as though New Jersey may reject their part of the $26 billion dollar slush fund being divided amongst states that are unable to manage their own budgets.
“It would be prudent in not committing entirely to the idea of taking this money unless we know … what the impact is and the potential unintended consequences,” Drewniak said.
While it would be a shame to see teachers lose jobs, most of these positions could be saved if those folks were willing to sacrifice as the rest of us have had to. In New Jersey alone, Governor Christie points out, all his teachers jobs could be saved with no help from the Federal Government by accepting a wage freeze for one year, and paying 1.5% of their paychecks toward benefits. Is it so hard to imagine most states, public employees and teachers across the U.S. are in exactly the same predicament? In a time of near zero inflation and already excessive spending by those in charge don't we all need to come together and huddle down?
Representative Jeb Hensarling, Republican of Texas, said of the decision to call back the House: “This is a national emergency. Apparently Congress has not spent enough money.”
Yep. That about nails it.

A Little Truth on the Google Verizon Internet Deal.

In a hissy fit of control-gasim, some members of the House are now urging the FCC to take action on the issue of Net Neutrality. Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.) along with Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.) began speaking out last Thursday after Google and Verizon announced a potential deal concerning Internet traffic management on wired and wireless networks. According to the terms of the deal Verizon would not limit access to content on their wired networks, but these rules would not apply to their wireless networks where they would control such access-as a means to provide a better experience for their users.
Verizon Communications Inc.and Google Inc.have struck their own accord on handling Internet traffic, as both participate in talks by U.S. officials on Web policy, two people briefed by the companies said.

The compromise as described would restrict Verizon from selectively slowing Internet content that travels over its wires, but wouldn’t apply such limits to Internet use on mobile phones, according to the people, who spoke yesterday and asked not to be identified before an announcement.

Unfortunately, people who have no idea how the Internet works or what it takes to deliver said content to users are meddling in this deal. The lawmakers assume that having tiered levels of service, specific service guarantees and giving providers the flexibility to offer specialized packages is a bad thing.

"I believe these reported side deals by companies risk undermining his efforts," Eshoo added. "This would widen the gap between the haves and the have-nots. I remain a champion to ensure that the next Google is able to flourish on the internet, and not have its content sit in the slow lane."

“In their effort to gain a competitive advantage in this age of media consolidation, broadband providers are attempting to create a regime that locks information away behind pay walls, dramatically shifting power, and choice, away from consumers to serve their bottom lines," said Rep. Jay Inslee (D-Wash.). "There is no better evidence than these recent reports as to why the Federal Communications Commission must act quickly to preserve Internet freedom.”
Alas, the fact is the talks between Google and Verizon only serve to further innovation, opportunity and enhance the user experience. While they would like you to believe that deals like this somehow limit upstarts ability to compete, nothing could be further from the truth. Existing mega-entities like Google have already invested millions in fiber-optics and giant data centers; they are willing to pay a premium to have their content delivered to the end-user. Their willingness to pay this premium will make it so providers can then offer managed packages to start-ups that don't have this kind of investment and allow them to match Google's level of service without the same investment in infrastructure. To imply this limits choice and denies others a competitive advantage is a complete fallacy. In fact it is likely this will further competition and innovation.

Frankly, this particular agreement only applies to service levels and differentiating between wired and wireless data delivery. The amount of data space available on wireless networks is limited, to throttle information in that space is completely acceptable. In a truly competitive system, if you don't like it, go to a provider that doesn't. One thing it would be wise to remember is Verizon invested in the infrastructure and technology, their handling of it should be up to them. Consumers always have another choice in cellular providers if they are unhappy.

Lawmakers must stop playing around with every aspect of business and our lives. This is just another attempt at controlling the companies that provide access, the Internet and the content that resides there. These two companies are working together to provide the best user experience. This is a good thing. Let the free market and competition decide their fate.

The Patriot Enclave-show notes: 8-5

Judge Rules against Obama administration. Allows VA lawsuit to go forward
Judge Hudson ruled: The guiding precedent [on the Commerce Clause] is informative but inconclusive. Never before has the Commerce Clause and Necessary and Proper Clause been extended this far. At this juncture, the court is not persuaded that the Secretary has demonstrated a failure to state a cause of action with respect to the Commerce Clause element.

But-Maxine Waters thinks the Office of Congressional Ethics is racists. Ridiculous.
The question of whether black lawmakers are now being singled out for scrutiny has been simmering throughout the 111th Congress, with the Office of Congressional Ethics a focal point of the concerns. At one point earlier this year, all eight lawmakers under formal investigation by the House ethics committee, including Rangel and Waters, were black Democrats.
There’s a “dual standard, one for most members and one for African-Americans,” said one member of the Congressional Black Caucus, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
