Government exits GM, taxpayers lose 50%

Readers of this site are well aware that I had no love for the auto bailout since it's inception, but now another of my fears has come to fruition. (Most of my predictions came true, as I knew they would.) Today the Administration announced they would finally start to remove themselves from the auto industry and begin to sell off some of the stock purchased with taxpayer money.
The Detroit automaker said it will purchase 200 million shares of GM stock held by Treasury for $5.5 billion — or $27.50 per share — nearly $2 above the stock's closing price on Tuesday. GM shares jumped sharply on the news and were up 7.5 percent to $27.36, or $1.90, early afternoon in very heavy trading.
The U.S. Treasury, after more than a year of refusing to say when it might start selling its remaining stake in GM, said it willannounce a written plan in January to shed its remaining 300 million shares over the next 12 to 15 months, likely in a series of small stock sales.
The Treasury's move is intended to minimize the impact of the stock sale on the share price — and the government's state will shrink from 26.5 percent to less than 19 percent — but the exit could be completed far more quickly.
The exit plan may prove to be a boost to GM's lagging stock price and to some car buyers, who have avoided GM because of the "Government Motors" label.
The exit timetable signals the end of one of the most extraordinary government interventions in the U.S. economy in history — the rescue and partial nationalization of two U.S. automakers and their finance arms supported by two U.S. presidents.
Still, taxpayers will almost certainly lose billions of dollars in the $49.5 billion GM bailout - and the government would need to sell its remaining shares for about $70 each to break even. If the government sold the rest of its stock at current prices, taxpayers would lose more than $13 billion.
As we continue to live under crushing debt, spending money we do not have but continue to borrow or print, we add to that a crushing loss on GM stock. There was never any reason for the government to buy into GM-a managed bankruptcy was always a better plan-but once they did there was no doubt the only loser would be the taxpayer. The initial investment was made under the guise that there was no funding available for bankruptcy, which they ended up going through anyway, and then that the government wouldn't lose any money on the deal, which they did. Bait and switch? Nah, we knew what we were getting.

Texas troopers perform roadside BODY CAVITY search for littering

In an inexcusable abuse of power by a couple of Texas Troopers, two women we detained, had their vehicle searched, and were forcibly VIOLATED in full public view of all passing traffic in order to eventually get a warning for littering.
Two Texas women are suing after state troopers subjected them to a humiliating and invasive 'roadside body cavity search' that was caught on video.
Female trooper Kellie Helleson is seen in the footage aggressively searching the private parts of Angel Dobbs, 38, and her niece, Ashley Dobbs, 24, in front of passing cars.
The women, who claim the trooper used the same rubber glove for both of them, were initially stopped by Helleson's colleague David Farrell on State Highway 161 near Irving after he saw one of them throw a cigarette butt out the window.
The first trooper searched the car and found nothing. After the unbelievable violation, they then attempted to turn it into a DUI investigation, which also failed. Ultimately, the two women were issued a warning for littering for throwing a cigarette butt out the window. What's worse? The Texas Department of Public Safety had already received several complaints about unlawful strip searches and other disgusting behavior, but has done nothing to address the problem. I hope they throw the book at these people. I hope they win millions of dollars in a judgement against this department. I hope the officers who violated these women and other women like this, burn in hell.

Now Boehner caves on raising debt limit too

Shocking:
House Speaker John A. Boehner has offered to push any fight over the federal debt limit off for a year, a major concession that would deprive Republicans of leverage in the budget battle but is breathing new life into stalled talks over the year-end “fiscal cliff.”
Really I just wish Republicans would just walk away from the whole thing. The people voted for this, let them have it. When the economy goes to hell, then Republicans can make the changes that must be made. Anything else just allows them to continue to take the blame.

Let's get that pesky baby Jesus out of Christmas

According to the Today Show's Chief Medical Editor Nancy Snyderman, if it wasn't for that whole "religious" part of CHRISTmas, well, the holidays would be so much more pleasant.

During a panel discussion on Tuesday's NBC Today about hiring people to do Christmas chores like decorating the tree or buying gifts, the network's chief medical editor Nancy Snyderman suddenly broke into an anti-religious rant: "I don't like the religion part. I think religion is what mucks the whole thing up....I think that's what makes the holidays so stressful."

Snyderman's take-the-Christ-out-of-Christmas commentary was prompted by fellow panelist Star Jones explaining: "I focus on, honestly, the religion part of it. I really and truly do. So I can't out-source that part of it. I can send you to get my tree, but I can't help – you can't help me pray." When Snyderman launched into her attack on faith, Jones countered: "That's the only reason for me to have the holiday....We wouldn't have the holiday if it wasn't for the religion part."
Moments later, Jones was still giving Snyderman a quizzical look, causing Snyderman to react: "Look at you." Jones replied: "I'm sitting here, in my head going, 'Jesus is the reason for the season and you don't like the religious part.' Okay."

Um, ok. I'm not sure what we would even be celebrating if not for the birth of Jesus. The problem is not with "the religion part" the problem is irrational, liberal fools constantly trying to re-frame everything to suit their ideas. If you don't want to celebrate the birth of Jesus-DON'T-no one forces you to participate.
I'm not Jewish. I don't celebrate Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur but I don't try to turn those dates into days into something that suits me.

Billionaires who avoid paying taxes call for higher taxes on everyone else

Figures.

In a joint statement today, Buffett, Soros and more than 20 other wealthy individuals asked Congress to lower the estate tax’s per-person exemption to $2 million from $5.12 million and raise the top rate to more than 45 percent from 35 percent.

An estate tax structured this way will “raise significant revenue to reduce the deficit and fund vital services, will only be paid by the top one percent of estates, will raise more from the wealthiest estates” and will simplify compliance, said the statement. It also was signed by John Bogle, founder of mutual fund company Vanguard Group Inc., and former President Jimmy Carter.

Of course they want higher taxes on people who are too stupid to shelter their own money. I don't know why Buffett and his ilk don't just pay the tax they owe.

Obamas current fiscal cliff proposal an embarrassment to reality.

As suspected all along, the President not only asked for twice the tax increase he campaigned on, but now it would seem the broken promise goes even farther down the rabbit hole.  Obama is pushing for twice as much in new tax revenues, to the tune of $1.6 trillion, and of that increase he wants 75% going towards new spending. That's right, not only are we making what amounts to no reductions in the debt but we are increasing it at an even faster rate than he agreed to in 2011:

According to the minority side of the Senate Budget Committee, $1.2 trillion of the proposed $1.6 trillion in tax hikes would go toward new According to the minority side of the Senate Budget Committee, $1.2 trillion of the proposed $1.6 trillion in tax hikes would go toward new spending, while only $400 billion would go toward deficit reduction. spending, while only $400 billion would go toward deficit reduction.

That's right kids, the way to solve the insurmountable debt and deficit that stretches to infinity is to make it bigger.

Culture of Corruption: The Next Phase

I know you will be shocked to learn that the culture of corruption continues in the Obama Administration, unencumbered by the rules or laws or the silly SEC.

With so many Republican governors and legislatures refusing to implement ObamaCare Exchanges, the Federal government has been fast at work trying to get their versions of these exchanges ready for their 2014 debut. Of course, as is par for the course with this Administration, they can't just follow the law, they make it a point to completely decimate them in order to pay back their own friends.

HHS has contracted with a subsidiary of a private health care company to help build and police the very exchanges in which that company will be competing for business. The person who ran the government entity that awarded that contract has since accepted a position with a different subsidiary of that same company. An insurance industry insider (speaking on the condition of anonymity) says that HHS, in an attempt to hide this unseemly contract from public view until after the election, encouraged the company to hide the transaction from the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Just one more aspect of the most corrupt Administration in history continuing their #winning streak!

Unemplyment fell because everyone has given up-welcome to the new normal

The unemployment rate fell to 7.7% this month on a higher than expected jobs report. Of course the drop has nothing to do with actual jobs being created as some would like you to believe. The unemployment rate continues to drop the last few months because people are just giving up looking for work; add in a few temporary jobs in the retail sector to help with the Christmas crowd and 'viola! lower unemployment .
The labor participation rate, which represents the proportion of the adult population that is either employed or actively looking for work, remains very low by historical standards.
At 63.6 percent in November, Mr. Gault said, it was just 0.1 percent above the low point for the current economic cycle, which was reached in August 2012.
Regular folks are cutting back on personal spending and tightening their belts just to fall farther and father behind each month-while the federal government can't seem to stop their over-bloated spending. And, just for the record-IT'S THE ENTITLEMENTS STUPID.

Corporate cash in elections BAD, in inaugurations AWESOME

So the same President who doesn't like it when corporations invest in elections apparently loves it when they invest in a big party. From Politico:
President Barack Obama will accept unlimited corporate donations for his Inauguration in January, reversing his position from his first Inauguration, according to two sources close to the planning.
There are no legal limits for inauguration donations, but four years ago, the president capped all contributions at $50,000 and barred companies from kicking in any money. Obama had also banned corporate money from the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
But the sources say the new decision is driven by pragmatism: The president and his team just wrapped up the most expensive campaign in history — with costs topping $1 billion — and they’ve determined that their donors are simply tapped out.
The cost of an Inauguration can run into the tens of millions. Obama spent $47 million in 2009. And raising that in a matter of six weeks is too difficult without throwing open the flood gates, said the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
I guess exceptions are cool when you are talking about a PAR-TAY!

Those below the poverty level receive benefits worth MORE than middle class EARNS working.

From the Congressional Research Service:
According to the Republican side of the Senate Budget Committee, welfare spending per day per household in poverty is $168, which is higher than the $137 median income per day. When broken down per hour, welfare spending per hour per household in poverty is $30.60, which is higher than the $25.03 median income per hour.
"Based on data from the Congressional Research Service, cumulative spending on means-tested federal welfare programs, if converted into cash, would equal $167.65 per day per household living below the poverty level," writes the minority side of the Senate Budget Committee. "By comparison, the median household income in 2011 of $50,054 equals $137.13 per day. Additionally, spending on federal welfare benefits, if converted into cash payments, equals enough to provide $30.60 per hour, 40 hours per week, to each household living below poverty.
So the lesson is, go on welfare, make more money than the average worker and pay no tax. Remind me again-what's the incentive to work?

Voters Die, Deal with it Republicans!

Once again, excellent insight from Bill Hennessy:

To survive, the GOP needs to stop being afraid of Millennials and tell them truth: they can move out of mom and dad’s house, they can drop out of school, they can quit their dead-end job with the idiot supervisor. But they can’t get away from government and debt.
If you want freedom, it doesn’t emanate from Washington, DC. It starts here.

Some insight into how the Special Election will go in MO 8

Bill (and Frieda) give us more good insight into how the special election will be held and how the republican candidate will be selected.
The process for selecting a replacement:

The following process will occur once a vacancy is declared (in this case, it will not be until February):
Once the Governor and Secretary of State are notified of the vacancy, the Secretary of State will have 24 hours to notify the 8th Congressional District GOP Committee.
The Governor will select the date for the election, and according to RSMO 21.110, he must provide at least 10 weeks notice.
Once the 8th Congressional District GOP Committee is informed of the vacancy, the Chairman of the committee will call a meeting of the committee to select a Republican candidate to run in the special election. The meeting must occur within the congressional district, and a majority of members of the committee must attend in person.
This is a very important opportunity for conservatives in the MO 8th. We have several newly elected members in the Congressional District Committee. Because this is a seat that Republicans have had no trouble holding on to, even with a RINO like Jo Ann Emmerson, it would be a real boon to get an actual conservative to serve.

Obama openly seeks out the help of the MSM to push tax and spend agenda

It would seem that President Obama is now openly seeking out the help and support of the MSM to push support of his tax and spend agenda:

"President Barack Obama met with several MSNBC hosts this afternoon at the White House to discuss tax rates, according to Huffington Post reporter Jennifer Bendery. The reporter wondered if an "MSNBC love fest" was going on at the White House."

Well at least he isn't hiding his propagandist ways any more. Now he just invites those kids right in to the White House to tell them what to report. I'm sure there will be no bias there. Maddow or Sharpton are sure to question the validity of massive tax increases during a recession while at the same time doing nothing to curb spending. Makes perfect sense to me.

When was Jo Annn Emmerson in talks with the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association?

Well, it would appear in this report from the Sunlight Foundation it was just DAYS after her successful re-election to her MO House Seat in the 8th.

On Nov. 19, nine business days after she won reelection with 72 percent of the vote, Rep. Jo Ann Emerson, R-Mo., began final negotiations for a new job with the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, official documents show.
According to ethics rules set in place meant to avoid conflict of interest, Members of Congress are required to file disclosures with the House Ethics Committee and the Senate Office of Public Records within three business days after they begin to negotiate for a future job while they are still in Congress. However, the definition of "negotiation" is left ambiguous and leaves room for "preliminary or exploratory" talks before any report is required. Reports are filed on paper at the ethics committees offices and, while available to the public, are not posted online.
While the stamp date on the document shows that disclosure was filed on Nov. 16, Emerson appears to have signed the document on Nov. 23. The Reporting Group contacted her office and the ethics committee for a clarification and will update this post if more information is provided.
Rep. Emerson also filed another form, dated Dec. 3, to recuse herself from any official matter that would affect the National Rural Electric Co-op. As Sunlight reported earlier, over the past two decades, the co-op has contributed more than $72,000 to Emerson and her husband, the late Rep. Bill Emerson, whom she succeeded in office, as well as another $20,000 to GO JO, Emerson's leadership PAC.
Oh, color me surprised...... Thanks for wasting our time and for not allowing a truly good conservative candidate the opportunity to serve. This would go right along with what Bill Hennessy wrote just this morning-she knew she was leaving and wanted to secure the seat for a true RINO Establishment Candidate before she vacated the seat.

HATING BREITBART – Feature-length Documentary
Captures the Final Days of Controversial New Media Pioneer, Andrew Breitbart;
St. Louis will hold two special events this weekend.

Hating Breitbart, a feature-length documentary that takes an in-depth look at the final days of controversial New Media pioneer, Andrew Breitbart, who, before his untimely death earlier this year, became a conservative icon and one of the nation’s most influential political commentators; is set to hit theaters on October 12, 2012. Hating Breitbart will debut in exclusive engagements in Los Angeles, St. Louis, Dallas and Washington, D.C., with scheduled expansion to cities across the country in subsequent weeks.
Written and directed by award-winning independent filmmaker and multi-media producer, Andrew Marcus; Hating Breitbart is an up-close expose into the last two-years of Breitbart’s life and is the story of the man who achieved national attention by upending the traditional press and repeatedly found himself the target of a media feeding frenzy.
“Andrew Breitbart was able to engage and galvanize the conservative base of Americans, like few others in our time,” says Marcus. “Even before his untimely death earlier this year, Andrew had in many ways, already achieved iconic status as a fearless activist and champion of conservative values. Passionately loved by many and hated vehemently by others, Andrew was a true enigma – a champion of the people and a larger-than-life-personality, who declared war on the mainstream media and on the institutional left.
Hating Breitbart is opening in select theaters on October 19th.

Matthews spouts "disdain" and "arrogance" that Romney would run against Obama

Today, Chris Matthews said that Romney's decision to run against Obama "showed a certain kind of disdain,”. While it is no secret that the entirety of media is so far up Obama's butt they will never again see the light of day, this is an incredible statement. The most disturbing part of the whole exchange is that I doubt it would matter who had run, this would still be Matthews position: that no matter who you are, you have no business running against such a great and wonderful leader. As far as Matthews is concerned Obama should be king.

“I thought the decision by Romney to run for president, even as this president had not yet even been inaugurated, Mayor, showed a certain kind of disdain,” said Matthews. “I don’t want to get into his head on this – I don’t like the look of it – but he seemed to think, ‘Well, this guy could be beat by me.’”
Matthews said that Romney’s suspicion that he could defeat President Obama in 2012, even though he knew that he was not “a first-rate politician,” was an “arrogant point of view.”
“I’ve got a message for Mitt Romney – I wouldn’t do any head games with Barack Obama,” said former San Francisco Mayor Willy Brown. “He’s not smart enough, I don’t think he’s clever enough and he clearly has no street about him at all.”
Yeah, 'cause Obama is sooo street. Give me a break.......

That 4.5 million "new jobs created" lie.......lets FACT CHECK that!

Once again the Dems are using "facts" to create a completely false figure at the DNC this year. One of the main themes of the night is the 4.5 million new jobs that have been created under this Administration. Fortunately, you don't even have to be good at math to identify this lie. With unemployment over 8% for the majority of this Administration and the highest unemployment rate we have seen since the great depression, we are not fooled by these silly claims.

Thank goodness CNN.com was able to take it even further and show not only is that figure itself completely bogus-net job creation under Obama has been a measly 300,000 throughout the entire term of his Presidency-but that the jobs we lost are gone.
Nonfarm private payrolls hit a post-recession low of 106.8 million that month, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The figure currently stands at 111.3 million as of July.
While that is indeed a gain of 4.5 million, it's only a net gain of 300,000 over the course of the Obama administration to date. The private jobs figure stood at 111 million in January 2009, the month Obama took office.
And total nonfarm payrolls, including government workers, are down from 133.6 million workers at the beginning of 2009 to 133.2 million in July 2012. There's been a net loss of nearly 1 million public-sector jobs since Obama took office, despite a surge in temporary hiring for the 2010 census.
Meanwhile, the jobs that have come back aren't the same ones that were lost.
Sorry kids, this is just another lie in an attempt to paint one of the worst Administrations in history in a better light. I'd say they better come up with a new song-sheet to sign by if they want any hope of getting this President re-elected.

Obama Administration tells GSA to "stand down" against Occupy Portland protesters, once called in the riot police on Tea Partiers

Its so interesting the way this administration runs things........in documents obtained by Judicial Watch (a favorite web site resource of mine) it is clear the Obama Administration, the DHS, and the GSA told law enforcement officials to "stand down" against violent Occupy Protesters in Portland last November.
The records, obtained pursuant to a November 11, 2011, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, include internal DHS correspondence. One November 6, 2011, e-mail exchange between DHS/National Protection and Programs Directorate Chief of Staff Caitlin Durkovich and GSA Public Buildings Service Commissioner Robert Peck (who has since been fired) specifically related to Occupy Portland protests taking place on federal property in Portland:
I am sorry to be emailing you on a Sunday night, but wanted to let you know our Press Shop has received a couple of calls from Portland media outlets about a group of 11 protesters who again set up camp at Terry Shrunk Plaza in Portland last night. They have chained themselves to a large drum filled with concrete. GSA controls the permits and has asked FPS [Federal Protective Services] not to enforce the curfew at park and the prohibition on overnight encampments. Reporters have asked if we will be arresting the protestors as FPS did last week.
Our FPS Commander in Portland says they are standing down and following GSA’s request to only intervene if there is a threat to public safety.
 Peck responds:
Caitlin: yes, that is our position; it’s been vetted with our Administrator and Michael Robertson, our chief of staff, and we have communicated with the WH [White House], which has afforded us the discretion to fashion our approach to Occupy issues…The arrests last week were carried out despite our request that the protesters be allowed to remain and to camp overnight…
During the Occupy Portland protests the participants threw a projectile at a police officer, injuring him, attacked a news crew reporting on the story and had at least 25 arrests.

Its important to remember, this is the same Administration that once called out riot police

during a Tea Party protest........

Boarder Patrol Agents Trained to "run away or hide when encountering a violent shooter"

According to the National Boarder Patrol Council-Local 2544 web site:
".....in a series of Virtual Learning Center courses, Border Patrol agents are forced to sit behind a computer for hours and endure, we are now taught in an "Active Shooter" course that if we encounter a shooter in a public place we are to "run away" and "hide". If we are cornered by such a shooter we are to (only as a last resort) become "aggressive" and "throw things" at him or her. We are then advised to "call law enforcement" and wait for their arrival
No doubt this is a reflection of the DHS' stance that the boarder is "as secure as it has ever been" and the fact that boarder violence is simply a "mistaken perception".

Of course the meteoric rise in violence and death along our boarders and in Mexico might lead you to another conclusion, but you're just stupid......

Yes and a ban on murder will stop murder........

Really?
Expired Assault Weapons Ban Would Have Covered Rifle Used In Colorado Shooting
And outlawing fire will stop arson.
Outlawing water will stop drowning.
Outlawing kitchen knives will stop stabbing.
I mean really, that's all we need to do-find the offending item and outlaw it. We will then live in a crime free world. Criminals care deeply about what is against the law.

Vacation Liberty School is COMING UP! Register now!

Last year we sponsored the first St. Louis Vacation Liberty School in Chesterfield, MO.  As summer approaches we're making schools and other youth-oriented groups aware of the 2012 week-long, half-day camp.

This summer the program will be held at Westminster Christian Academy on June 18 - 22 from 9:00 am - noon.  Vacation Liberty School (VLS) is organized to follow the model of Vacation Bible School (VBS) in that it is offered for one week in 1/2 day sessions.  However the content of the programs are different and in no way are meant to compete.  While VBS is for younger elementary school age children, VLS has been designed for kids rising into 5th through 8th grades.

VBS focuses on the Word of God and things eternal whereas VLS was developed to teach about earthly concerns specific to America and its founding principles.  The principles of freedom and liberty are taught from the perspective of faith, hope and charity.  In short the curriculum covers the following:
  • With freedom and liberty comes responsibility.
  • Importance of private property and families providing for themselves
  • Our rights come from our Creator - not men
  • Natural Law is the basis for our Constitution
  • Equal justice under the law
  • Equal rights, not equal results
  • Charity provides needed help during times of adversity, but should not enable dependency
  • Liberty is a balance between tyranny and anarchy
  • The difference between a republic and a democracy
  • Founding principles of economic freedom
  • Ultimate responsibility for maintaining liberty lies with the people
The above curriculum is taught by current and newly-retired middle-school teachers in short segments that are interspersed with games and activities that play out these principles.

Registration can be done online at www.stlvls.webs.com or via the mail.

Would you like to take a bus to the Restoring Love Rally this summer?

I received an email from some folks looking to put together a bus to the Restoring Love Rally in Dallas, Texas this July. If you're interested, drop them a line!

Hi All,
I would like to hear from those of you who are interested in going to Restoring Love in Dallas this July http://www.mercuryone.org/restoring-love. I have my ticket from mercuryone.org (through Ticketmaster) and I have a reservation at LaQuinta Inn. I had linked up with the Springfield group I went to Restoring Honor with, however they have since canceled their bus. I don't mind coordinating the bus etc. However I need to know that there is enough interest out there. Don't know about you, but I won't travel by plane any more, and I don't want to drive because I get too drowsy. The bus trip to DC was a blast, we had SO much fun. So in my humble opinion that's the way to go. Four of us girls became quick friends on the way to DC and we stuck together the whole trip. We took a cab to the Lincoln Memorial, so I think I would take a cab to Dallas Cowboy's Stadium. Please email me and let me know the following.
[ ] I would go if there was a bus going from St. Louis.
[ ] I might go if there is a bus going from St. Louis There would probably be

I would like to leave St. Louis on _______________ day or evening?

OWS invades CPAC and #fails miserably

OWS....... what a bunch of losers

Video streaming by Ustream
Video streaming by Ustream
Video streaming by Ustream The lame OWS protesters seriously failed at trying to invade CPAC. The very professional and polite police were at the ready all day with riot gear, mounted police and tear gas. Its too bad this group was so lame they didn't have to use any real defense against them. Of course I say this based on the fact that these folks were told to use physical violence if necessary against us.

National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence in UK bans life saving cancer treatment

Prostate cancer patients will be denied access to the life-extending drug Abiraterone because the cost is too high. NICE says that £35,000 is too much to save a life for what could amount to years for some.
It is a fresh blow for doctors and patients who hoped a new era of drugs could lessen the deadly toll of prostate cancer, which has been described in the past as a low-profile ‘Cinderella’ disease.

Trials show men taking abiraterone and a steroid survived for nearly 15 months, while men given steroid treatment and a ‘dummy’ pill lived for 11 months on average.

But some patients live far longer than expected, including Britons who have survived on the drug for more than four years after developing advanced disease. The drug also eased pain for twice as many men in the trials.
Abiraterone joins the list along with Jevtana which was also deemed too expensive just last month. Unfortunately this is what happens when you put too many people on the government system. Healthcare naturally must be rationed. At first it seems it will only be rationed to the very, very sick and the very, very old....but suddenly it must be rationed to anyone that is going to cost any money what-so-ever beyond the scope of normal everyday healthcare.

Yay for Obamacare........

#OWS....always a class act.

Demonstrators from the Occupy Wall Street movement disrupted a Pro Life Rally in Rhode Island on Thursday.

About two-dozen members of Occupy Providence hiked from Burnside Park to the 39th Annual Pro-Life State House Rally organized by the Rhode Island State Right to Life Committee on Thursday.
The pro-life organization’s executive director, Barth E. Bracy, told LifeSiteNews.com that, near the end of the rally, the Occupiers “strategically fanned out with military precision.”
That’s when they “started showering condoms down on some of the girls from a Catholic high school.”
They gathered around speakers at the podium, shouting them down or otherwise jostling them and members of the audience.

Bracy, who finished only a quarter of his keynote address before being drowned out by chants and catcalls, said the Occupiers – who carried a large sign reading “Occupy Providence” and wore distinguishing arm bands – physically bumped several people. “They’re touching you. They’re swarming you,” he said.
The Providence chapter openly planned its actions on its Facebook page, Bracy said.
Bracy said he was disappointed when he tried to ask a man from the national Occupy Wall Street movement, who identified himself as “Dallas,” what opposing the right to life had to do with economics. “You can’t have a reasoned conversation with these people,” he said, “They simply try to taunt you. They’re smug, snarky, arrogant. You won’t get a straight answer.”
/snark/ Well, at least they are keeping it klassy and making a completely sane and valid point  //snark/

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tea Party Leaders to Florida Voters: Santorum, Gingrich,
and Paul Should Continue Past Florida

January 30, 2012 - Local tea party leaders from around the country who have organized the ElectionDayTeaParty.com project today released a statement of support for Florida voters participating in Tuesday's Presidential preference election.

Billie Tucker, of Jacksonville’s First Coast Tea Party declined supporting any single candidate, stating, "I am endorsing We the People because I believe they will make the right decision this Tuesday based on facts, data, research and truth.

"I am endorsing the People because they have become wise and know that what we are seeing on the airwaves and hearing from the mouths of some of these candidates is not truth.

"I am endorsing the People because I trust them more than I trust any consultant, media personality or 'has-been political operatives.' I trust the people to show the Establishment that times have changed."

Michael Patrick Leahy, co-organizer of Election Day Tea Party, agreed, and added, “None of the four candidates seeking the Republican Presidential nomination have yet earned the full support of the Tea Party movement.  For us, this election is about determining which of these candidates will best align their policies with the three core values of the Tea Party movement: constitutionally limited government, fiscal responsibility, and free markets.”

Michelle Moore, co-founder of the St. Louis Tea Party Coalition, stated, "Sarah Palin recently suggested we should '… keep this vetting process going,' and many tea partiers agree with that sentiment.  It’s time to elevate the discussions in this campaign process beyond petty personal attacks over insignificant issues.  By keeping the debate going, we will see exactly which candidate understands that it is only with limited government that we have unlimited opportunity to pursue happiness and prosperity in America."

Mark West of the Chattanooga Tea Party said, "At this point, it’s quite clear to most in the Tea Party movement that Governor Romney has made a strategic decision not to engage with the movement, or make a serious attempt to understand our message.  Personally, I want to encourage Floridians to vote for a candidate other than Governor Romney in order to continue this critical conversation."

Carol Knighton, co-founder of Florida’s Leesburg Regional Tea Party said, "So far, none of the top three candidates have given us any confidence they will demand any more fiscal responsibility than the current Republican-led House and Democratic-led Senate - which INCREASED federal spending in 2011 by 5% over 2010 - after the Tea Party movement's historic role to elect 63 new Republican members of Congress in 2010."

Zan Green, founder of the RainyDayPatriots.org Tea Party in Birmingham, Alabama, added, "The modern Tea Party movement started because Washington and the two primary parties had lost all moorings to our Constitution. We the people demanded a return of the Government of the people, and only ‘We The People’ can pick the leader by the vetting process and by having that candidate answer to us."

Lorie Medina, founder of the Frisco, Texas Tea Party and creator of the Victory-in-a-Box get-out-the-vote program added, “The Tea Party is back for the 2012 elections and stronger than ever.  We’ve been flooded with volunteers at ElectionDayTeaParty.com who want to help get-out-the vote this November.

"I encourage everyone who supports the idea of constitutionally limited government, fiscal responsibility, and free markets to sign up at our website today.  We’ll help you use your talents and energies in our campaign to restore this country.”

The first national event of Election Day Tea Party 2012 will be a celebration of the Tea Party movement's 3rd anniversary on February 25th, 26th, and 27th.  On February 27, 2009, the Tea Party movement was launched with simultaneous tea parties in fifty cities which were attended by more than 30,000 tea partiers.  This was immediately followed by Tax Day Tea Party on April 15, 2009, when over 1 million tea partiers participated in rallies held in more than 900 cities.

Additional tea parties who joined the Election Day Tea Party 2012 project and the third anniversary celebration in February come from Tennessee, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Mississippi, New Jersey, Texas, Delaware, Arkansas, Missouri, Ohio, Wisconsin, New Mexico, California, Florida, and Connecticut.  Election Day Tea Party 2012 anticipates that tea parties from every state will participate.
